Some of those shouldn't have been made the first time, and as for the rest they should wait another decade or so.

Pet Semetary is the only one I remotely understand. It could have been a lot better given the material.

Videodrome and Dirty Dancing?!

Highlander - But there can be only one? Or at least they should have thought long and hard before bringing out the second movie (1991). No matter what, Christopher Lambert will always be my highlander :P

Good grief (As Charlie Brown used to say)

Escape from NY was remade into Escape from LA. What are we doing now? Escape from Houston? Escape from Wash DC? Escape from MAry's ass in Three Parts?

Endless Love - never saw the original, won't see the remake.

Scarface - why?

TIme Bandits and Videodrome -- I think these producers are having a bout of mental illness as therapy for social diseases

Wargames - I went into diabetic shock when I Saw this movie, required hospitalization for 24 hours after that.

Romancing the Stone - Let's do it again with Marky MArk and Thandie Newton and make sure it is in a subway in Paris. And make sure it has a stamp collection in it... (I won't sugar coat the sarcasm in that)

SHORT CIRCUIT - don't waste the money, just stick your finger in an empty light socket with your other hand in a sink filled with water. ZZZZZAT!

Highlander (the gay(er) version would be nice). Then we might find out what real scotsmen wear under those kilts.

Monster Squad - with grown ups this time. Pudgy, pimply, grown ups like Seth Rogen and Zack Galifanakis who I adore in all films just like I adore crotch rot and toe fungus. Or maybe I'll just check in for 2 hours of electroshock therapy and relax into a stupor.

Pet Semetary - reread the book. It's cheaper and better.

I like this movie. I have the collector's DVD. I think a remake might be cute if done true to form with better CGI stuff now.

Nope.

OK, a guilty pleasure of mine. You cannot mess with this flick!

Blasphemers! Release the director's cut on blue ray!

Cute kids, bad movie. Nope.

I did go to Romancing the Stone, but I walked out about halfway through it. It wasn't worth staying until the end.

Romancing the Stone, one of my all time favorites. I don't know if I would like a remake, the first one was just fine.

The danger of making obscure jokes about bad movies. Bad me. Bad me. Bad me...

The original movie starred Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn and was titled CHARADE. It is a witty movie, quite a lot of fun with lots and twists and some (for its time) gritty violence. People keep showing up dead in rather ugly ways. It was directed by Stanley Donen. It is Grant (as the wily detective) and Hepburn (as the fraught and not-so-mourning-widow) who make the story. They are fun to watch. George Kennedy, Walter Matthau and a number of others aren't bad in their parts either. It really is set in Paris and they really do run through the subway.

The remake was called "The Trouble With Charlie" and the writer of the screenplay had his name taken off the movie and is credited under a fake name. No, Not Alan Smithee or any of the Smithee Family. It did star Mark Wahlberg and Thandie Newton and they had no chemistry. It just was a plebian remake of a smart story that should have remained unmade.
