Re: Diet, YOU ARE A BLIMP
When I weighed this morning, I had dropped below 170 for the first time since 1970. Along with the smoothies, cutting out Starbucks pastries seems to have made a difference.

Things like our local gay men's group saying, "Hey, come have dinner with us" or going to the amusement park last Friday where the food options do not allow you to stay on plan. I do try to stay reasonable when those things happen but the salt and calorie intake is usually way to high even with minimal intake. The foods at these events are usually very calorie dense with little to satisfy. I will say I'm 1.5 pounds up instead of 3 like I was on Sunday, so it's coming off.
I was hoping to be no more than 220 when I go to Florida next week, but that isn't likely to happen, but perhaps I can get to my second weight loss goal by then (224) which would represent a 10% total body weight loss to that point.

Funny you mention about salt. If you go with sea salt it's healthy. Regular salt is stripped from all sorts of minerals.
Its refined much like processed white sugar cane is already.

Re: Diet, YOU ARE A BLIMP
Weight is no issue for me
I am not afraid of aging however I'm afraid of not aging gracefully
No I do not smoke, drink nor have caught STD's and I feel this along with the perfect controlled non-monsanto vegetable produce (and non contaminated fish)I feel I will be closer to that goal of not looking like my overbloated "ugly" cousins.
Ive seen the faces of vegans. Most age gracefully with little to no degree of tissue inflamation.
Everywhere I visit medicinal wise , all issues stem from an inflammation of sorts.
Whether that be inflammation of the pancreas, liver, stomach(leading to gastritis, followed by more severe stomachal issues such as cron's disease) etc....
OMG say it isn't so?!!!, the master gland in our brain The hypothalamus" also exhibits inflammation!!! Apparently it regulates not just our hormones but our neuro-transmitter chemicals that regulate the rate at which we age
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 131845.htm
NB = Dark chocolate can lower inflammation of the hypothalamus(Im sure there are more natural ingredients that can lower brain inflammation aswell)

NaCl is the problem, not where it comes from. If you eat salt, it creates a mechanism for excess water to remain in the body which leads to higher weight readings (and hypervolemia issues like blood pressure problems). It doesn't mater if it's sea salt, salt on potato chips, table salt, or many other varieties. Salt is salt.
I do take a multi-vitamin each day to help with any potential vitamin deficiencies.
After all my lamenting about being stuck, I'm happy to report I'm at a new low on this round of weight loss. I might just meet that goal I was talking about above (10% total weight loss by this coming Monday). I only have 1 pound to go.

Re: Diet, YOU ARE A BLIMP
salt is not salt. there is industrially processed salt and there is natural unrefined salt in the natural crystal form with pockets of vital mineral brine within. some salt has shown to balance blood pressure whether high or low, and other salt is great for the roads in wintertime. sea salt is misunderstood because most sea salt is industrially processed. natural crystal sea salt with the brine is not 98% sodium chloride.
Salt is neccesary buffer for transmitting electrical signals to the brain.
A deficiency of salt can lead to death by hyponatremia
You need to consume a moderation of the right stuff Losethem
not shit like gatorade which contains table salt.
Companies like to use the term Electrolytes a fancy word to conceal fact that NACl present is purely table salt.
It should come to no surprise that whenever you go out to eat to a restaurant or take out that the food really isn't good for you from the start.
NB = other predisposing factors towards weight are omega 3 : omega 6 imbalances with omega 6 > omega 3.
Should this surprise you?
It really shouldn't restaurants and junk food like to coat their "product" with a refined peanut oil cuz it's cheap

Re: Diet, YOU ARE A BLIMP
I honestly feel its incredibly hard to shop for natural based products. Going to a supermarket is just not the way anymore. Hippies are the right folk to talk to about this sorta stuff.
It takes a lot of homework to shop around for the right additives.
If you need mustards, ketchup, salt, vinegar just go to a hippie.

foxytaur (imported) wrote: Tue May 07, 2013 4:20 am If yer going to be an emotional eater go Vegan.
youll shed pounds quick. I'm transitioning from a meat to vegan diet now.
PH blood levels lowering, losing weight even further, amazing blood pressure results(that of a 17 yr old)
And if that doesn't convince you this will
http://www.odditycentral.com/news/70-ye ... water.html
NB= After seeing this 2 weeks ago I'm tranning myself now to go vegan.(get a juicer and berry supplement mix)
Fuck meat. Fuck the shit they put in it.
The countless preservatives, antibiotics, tranquilizers, corn and grain fed GMO shit
Bet you didnt know it's the dead and alive bacteria from the meat that contributes to heart attacks and cardiovascular issues eh?
When you ingest it it raises uric acid levels and this is the ultimate killer.
It has always been the degree of body inflammation that kills cells.
The added saturated fat and blubber are a bonus
It just sucks that meat is sooo darn tasty!!!! LOL
Eat organic plant based fats(hydrophilic such as palm or coconut oil, hydrophobic such as virgin olive oil), plant based carbs(im now even beggining to think that white rice isn't as severe anymore)
and plant protein.(beans, beans, beans)
http://nutritionfacts.org/video/uprooti ... -of-death/
NB = In past I endorsed meat, but not anymore. And you may be thinking hey.....what if I buy grass fed beef(aka organic livestock cuts)?....Well the issue here is where in hell are you going to find a reputable vendor who doesn't feed his livestock crap?(same applies to chickens aswell)
It's much easier to find organic based veggies from hippies than it is to find a farmer practicing livestock like the good old mom and pop days.
Easier to fight Monsanto than meat Corps such as maple leaf
If you are basing your diet on the testimonial of old folk you have a variety of strategies to chose from: http://insightwriter.com/2012/02/25/how ... ntenarian/ "Jeanne Louise Calment is the oldest verified human ever to live and she died at the ripe old age of 122. She rode a bicycle up until she was 100 years old and even smoked till she was 117 years old. She attributes her long life to olive oil which she poured on all her food and even rubbed into her skin. She also loved port wine and ate about a kilogram (2.2 pounds) of chocolate a week." "George Harris lived to be 112 years old. Besides living over 100 years he was known for his short stature and weighed only 100 pounds. He credits his long life to nature, and a diet rich in pork, eggs, milk, and lard." "Gertrude Baines who lived to be 115 years old loved the simple pleasures in life like bacon and eggs for breakfast."John Evans lived to be 113 years old and attributed his longevity to abstinence of smoking, drinking, swearing, and gambling.", "Henry Allingham also lived to be 113 years old and credited cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women and a good sense of humour for his longevity."
My parents will turn 93 this year, still live and care for themselves and will celebrate 75th anniversary next year. My grandmother made it to 103. All grew up and ate most of their lives with bacon fat as one of the four major food groups." Thing about us humans is that we have managed to not only survive but thrive i

I'm sorry, but that's pretty much snake oil. Gourmet salts may taste or have a better mouth feel, but the quantities of minerals and other nutrients are so miniscule that the only way they would be significant was if you were vastly overdosing on the salt itself http://nutritiondiva.quickanddirtytips. ... hiest.aspx
Are Gourmet Salts Healthier?
These salts do contain trace amounts of various minerals, like potassium and magnesium, as well things like strontium, fluoride and cadmium more or less what you might get from chewing on a spoonful of dirt. Theres also the chance that you're getting minerals you don't really want, like mercury or arsenic.
However, we're talking about amounts that are measured in parts per million or fractions of a percent. That might be enough to affect the color or the flavor (hopefully in a good way) but its not enough to offer any meaningful nutritional benefitsat least, not without consuming way too much salt! And theres really no substantiation for the claims that these tiny amounts of minerals are somehow more usable or powerful because they are in some sort of energetically-charged form or harmonically-balanced proportions. Thats just snake-oil talk, folks.
If you like the colors and flavor of these exotic sea salts and youve got the budget for it, have a good time. But it would be hard to justify the cost based solely on the nutritional benefits. I have observed that people who obsess about their diets seem no healthier than those who don't worry too much about it. If you want to be healthy and live long, I think the best strategy is to eat moderatly; eat a lot of different things: cook most of them yourself; enjoy what you eat and stay active. The rest is time and chance, "which happeneth to us all."

Trust me, I'm a medical professional. I have a license and everything. I would think based on that and the education I had to go through, I have a pretty good idea what I'm talking about though I will admit I'm no expert. NaCl is NaCl, and your body will process it the same no matter how you receive it.
I wrote a whole response to what you said, but I don't want to start an argument on what has been an otherwise pleasant thread.

Re: Diet, YOU ARE A BLIMP
Finally managed to get my weight checked out today, I haven't been to the gym in a while, whoops.
My reading was 75kg (165 pounds), same as when I was 23. Original goal was to stop at 80kg, but clearly I had enough to give more. Muscle is looking really toned now, makes wearing tight pink tops that much more enjoyable.
Diet hasn't changed much, still lots of water, coffee, and no sugar if I can help it (help me, this is so boring). I'm also giving the estrogen I'm taking some credit for this.
Good luck everyone else!
