Re: Castration surgeon
First, I congratulate you on taking the time to have yourself clinically evaluated from a psychiatric stand point. From experience I can tell you that you've preserved your sanity in times to come when questions about just that are posed. Also, what a correct thing you're doing by seeking competent medical care rather than risk some other method to which there may be very difficult consequences. Now to your problem and question. First, you need to understand that many doctors simply will not do this-even if they're perfectly able to do and have done it for other patients. Whether they understand your request, at least they'll know-you have the letter-that this is a considered act which has been discussed and thought out. Just for obvious reasons, I think you'll do better in metropolitan than in smaller places. The thing I would do would be to return to the Psychiatrist and have them either provide a referral to a doctor with whom they've worked on other issues or, better, have them call the surgeon and explain the situation. I believe you'll find what little compassion there is among Urological surgeons who, doubtless, have had this request before. That you come with at least a blunting of their concerns helps. Then there is getting a hospital to permit the procedure to be done in their facility. I'm not aware of any hospitals that are specific to Urology but at least find a hospital that has no religious affiiations. As you know, this is not a particularly difficult surgery, the only advice I would give you as to "afterwards" is, up front, to make your surgeon aware that you do or do not retain an interest in being able to get and maintain an erection. Although much of that is psychological, there are some neurological implications that a surgeon need be aware of to preserve whatever you want.
It's not going to be an easy road-as you know-but persistence will pay out. To each doctor that rejects you, particularly if they're reasons have more to do with the hospital not allowing the procedure, ask to whom they might send you and, as with your psychiatrist, have them call or write a letter endorsing the idea but explaining why they cannot do it. It took me three years, two of which were in therapy, before I could get it done. In a sense, I had a working relationship with my Urologist which helped as he already knew me and, in his mind, I'd graduated from the "loony" set to a man who knew what he wanted and why. And you might consider the islands that are close to you. One hears stories about certain ones of them and the reason I'm not saying which ones is that what I've heard isn't substantiated. Or you could have a marvelous, exotic trip to Thailand, Singapore of Malaysia where it's a routine procedure.
Again, my best wishes for your success and I admire your methodology and determination. Eventually we'll be able to say, "Welcome to a very exclusive club".

You may want to re-read his website. Note this: The Orchiectomy Procedure is an independent procedure that can be performed for those who wish to eliminate testosterone surge and achieve some degree of secondary feminization without complete penectomy and vaginoplasty.
Now, he does require 2 letters and you said you have 1 letter. Nonetheless your inquiry has been answered. Best of luck to you.

Germanicus, I commend you for having done your homework. My attempts to even mention castration to a surgeon or urologist were always met with scorn.
The reason I am interested in castration is that I have a long history of testicular pain problems.
May I ask why you desire castration?
Thanks, Dave

Thank you, but I have to correct you partally. I talked with his office appr. 2 years ago. He askes for 2 letters from 2 psychologists stating that I am transgender.
I had several telefon conversations with one and she said that I do absolutly not fulfill the Benjamin Harris criteria and she can not give me the letter and that the
second psychologist refused too. So Dr. Reid is no option for non transgender.

Hi Dave,
the reason why I seek castration is that in my age the male component is becoming an unpleasent fact and I rather be without it.
