Java?

Post by bobover3 (imported) »

I keep hearing on the radio today that the Department of Homeland Security has recommended everyone delete the latest version of Java from their computers because it creates an opportunity for hackers to control your computer.

What would happen if you deleted Java?

I expect the Java company is racing to develop a fix. Microsoft might be doing the same. While waiting, is it worth removing Java, or perhaps re-installing an older release?

Basically - you would not be able run some programs that require Java. And use some sites for that matter, but they are really rare in this day and age :).

You probably know, if you have such programs.

False alarm re Java.

Read this: http://www.forbes.com/sites/johnseigent ... ava-scare/

JDK7 is the developers kit, not the version you and I have on our computers.

It was fun while it lasted. Nothing like a good emergency.

I'm having trouble with Java on one of my computers. I spilled some on the keyboard, and now, one of the keys is sticking.

It was a mocha, though.
