Moi, radiation levels in flight are much higher, than those on the ground level (see cosmic radiation).
(Wolfram Alpha claims, that you get about 0.5 mrem/hour at 12km), about 35 times higher, than earth level background radiation (if I am calculating this right). So, a bit more or a bit less, it does not matter much, it is still in relatively safe region. (Unless you are going to live there).
Oh, and Moi, never unroll scotch tape without lead apron, it releases X-rays

. Proof of that, I'll leave on anyone wanting to search. (Sure, it requires vacuum, but that does not stop phobias?).

fhunter, You and I wisely live at Sea Level, not in Denver (mile high)

.
If you know an air force family, ask about the statistic that pilots father predominantly girls.
I'm thinking of taking a job as a radium dial painter. They say if I do it in bright light when the radium doesn't glow, there is nothing to worry about like the old time radium dial painters.
And that is the caliber of "safe radiation news". Even Fukishima. Don'tchyasee? At long last, "the trend" and west coast babies thyroids.
Where are the stories of Birth Defects, Thyroid Cancer epidemics in Ukraine?
I would suspect the Leukemias/Lymphomas are already making an appearance just not advertised.
How far into Poland, Scandinavia etc. is this epidemic spreading? We just don't get the news.
Moi
Sure it's SAFE.
YOU go ahead.
