That is not a literal "sound".

No Bang.

Bang = noise, sound

It did NOT happen.

Some other energies besides sound waves isn't the issue.

The WORD !

It is called the Cosmic Microwave Background and it is the big bang. It isn't evidence like a meteor crater indicates a meteor strike.

The Microwave Background IS the big bang as it has traveled for 14.5 billion years

Think of a pebble thrown in a lake, a ring of disturbance moves outward, as it moves outward it loses height because the energy it had is occupying a larger and larger circle.

IT is a vibration, so technically it is a sound...

if a sound is what the human ear can hear then no, it's not a sound

but the remnant of the big bang is a vibration that has frequency and amplitude and yes, it is a noise.

I remember when I was very young I asked MacWolf if he remembered the big bang and if it made noise, sense he was there and all, what he told me was that it did make a BIG BANG and he would never lie to me and as I have always respected those much older then I am for the truth and wisdom they have.

In a previous universe Moi would be galactus's herald for the planet devourer.

Whos knows?🤷

For all we know this universe maybe built over the previous one.

Think of the big bang as a ever expanding universe but when it becomes unstable it contracts much to the amusement of the big crunch supporters out there.

Think of a universe that expands and contracts over very long periodic entropy intervals.

It is very much alive.

And we keep it moving

NB = In all good humour Moi thats a compliment kk. Having super powers would be awesome.

Abraxas does not care.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraxas

Prediction: Just like the soon to be announced data on Dark Matter, seems un-PC

I prefer Undiscovered Matter. They are determined to "prove it" and will announce it, so proven.

I miss the scientific attitude of the early 20th Century when respected Scientist were out to

"disprove" relativity. And couldn't.

Abraxas still does not care.

So alone.

Call me Abraxas.

Hopes fade of Higgs particle opening door to new realms soon

GENEVA (Reuters) - Scientists' hopes that last summer's triumphant trapping of the particle that shaped the post-Big Bang universe would quickly open the way into exotic new realms of physics like string theory and new dimensions have faded this past week.

Five days of presentations on the particle, the Higgs boson, at a scientific conference high in the Italian Alps point to it being the last missing piece in a 30-year-old cosmic blueprint and nothing more, physicists following the event say.

"The chances are getting slimmer and slimmer that we are going to see something else exciting anytime soon," said physicist Pauline Gagnon from CERN near Geneva in whose Large Hadron Collider (LHC) the long-sought particle was found.

And U.S. scientist Peter Woit said in his blog that the particle was looking "very much like a garden variety SM (Standard Model) Higgs", discouraging for researchers who were hoping for glimpses of breathtaking vistas beyond.

That conclusion, shared among analysts of vast volumes of data gathered in the LHC over the past three years, would push to well beyond 2015 any chance of sighting exotica like dark matter or super symmetric particles in the giant machine. blah blah :)

I was making a funny reference where you were The silver surfer Moi. Galactuses right hand man.

You lead the planet devourer to feed on other planets to satisfy his hunger(Marvel comics)

Since you didn't protect Galactus you unleashed Abraxas from his outer dimensional prison. shame on you Moi.

Shame on you Moi.

Now the Universe is in peril

Plz go ride back to space in your silver spoon😄

Particle confirmed as Higgs boson

CERN/CMS/Taylor, L; McCauley, T

http://science.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/0 ... iggs-boson

By Jeanna Bryner, LiveScience

A newfound particle discovered at the world's largest atom smasher last year is indeed a Higgs boson, which plays a role in giving other subatomic particles their mass, scientists reported Thursday at the annual Rencontres de Moriond conference in Italy.

Physicists announced on July 4, 2012, that, with more than 99 percent certainty, they had found a new elementary particle weighing about 126 times the mass of the proton that could be the long-sought Higgs boson. The Higgs is sometimes referred to as the "God particle," to the chagrin of many scientists, who prefer its official name.

But the two experiments, CMS and ATLAS, hadn't collected enough data to say the particle was, for sure, the Higgs boson, the last undiscovered piece of the puzzle predicted by the Standard Model, the reigning theory of particle physics.

Now, after collecting two and a half times more data inside the Large Hadron Collider — where protons zip at near light-speed around the 17-mile-round (27-kilometer-round) underground ring beneath Switzerland and France — physicists say the particle is "a Higgs boson." But they can't yet rule out the possibility that other Higgs bosons exist as well. [In Photos: Searching for the Higgs Boson]

"The preliminary results with the full 2012 data set are magnificent and to me it is clear that we are dealing with a Higgs boson, though we still have a long way to go to know what kind of Higgs boson it is," CMS spokesperson Joe Incandela said in a statement.

Keeping up on the Science articles on Mr. Higgs' boson

I read for every particle there is an "anti" particle.

On to the anti Higgs boson. The Devil's particle. What else 😄

👹 made me do it.

My anti Higgs bosons are out of balance.

Moi

On to the science of the day. Is there Dark Higgs bosons too?

And of course, anti-Dark - oy :shakemitk
