more snuff stories

Years ago I read a book called The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov. In the story Earth is grossly overpopulated and people live in near poverty. But there are "Spacer Worlds", worlds inhabited by humans who live with unbelievable wealth but their population is strictly regulated. In fact the humans on the Spacer Worlds don't even raze their own children. Children are razed in nurseries by their robot caregivers and never even see adults.

Earth man Elijah Baley visits one of the Spacer Worlds and while visiting a nursery a very beautiful boy of about 10 takes a shot a Baley with a bow and arrow narrowly missing him. Baley isn't mad but he's confused. He tells the boy, "Had your arrow hit me I might have died. Are you trying to kill me?"

The boy answers, "I asked my robot what you were and he told me you were a man from Earth and as such not a true human. Since you're not a true human killing you wouldn't be wrong."

Later that day Baley remarks to his robot that given the very limited population of the world they were on the nursery was razing far too many children. He's told that children are not considered human until reaching the age of 12. Only the very best 11 year olds, perhaps one out of every hundred will be allowed to mature. To insure their happiness the children didn't know that most of them will be euthanized. Baley realizes that the beautiful boy who shot that arrow at him will likely be dead within two years and there's not a thing he can do to prevent it.

This wasn't actually a snuff story. The euthanasia of the children was only referred to and never described. Still I thought it was sort of sexy in a very creepy way.

For what it is worth, we haven't allowed snuff stories for quite a few years. They are not acceptable, and will be deleted when submitted.
