Yahoo IM

Post by Arab Nights (imported) »

My email forever and a day has been with Yahoo. Maybe two years ago when I got into my email there would come an IM with an obvious bot name. I just Xed those out. Maybe for two weeks when I signed into my email within a minute or two there would be some message from seagravesnfzyy746712. For a while I just Xed it out. Sometimes that would not work and I found I could go ahead and open the window and then X it out. I went into setting and set it so I could not get IM from people not on my contact list. That did not stop seagraves. For a couple of days one of two things could happen. I could X it out and it would disappear or when I right clicked on X I would get a dialogue box that said ALARM and you could see little rectangles marching across the dialogue box. Finally I think I got it to stop by going into the settings and putting seagraves on my ignore list and telling Yahoo to block names on the ignore list.

What was happening? If I was getting stuff passed to my computer (spybot says I did not), how do I recognize it and clean it?

Thanks.

Malwarebytes is my spyware/malware program of choice.

You can, I believe, still get a 2 week trial version fully functioning. After that, it's buy it or delete it.

Best $15 I ever spent. It's tagged a LOT of stuff that other software had missed.

About the Yahoo IM, I have no idea. Never seen this happen before.

I made the purchase based on your recommendation. My computer came up clean.

Full update and full scan?

I'd recommend you uninstall Yahoo IM then and download it again from Yahoo.
