Carrie Underwood vegetarian, partly from watching cattle castrations when young

Carrie Underwood is an Oklahoma girl. She grew up on a farm and has been around cattle her entire life. On October 27, Carrie spoke out in an interview about why she became a vegetarian.

According to Taste of Country, Carrie is a vegetarian. When she was growing up, her parents had cattle in the field and she was watching them take the testicles off of them. This is called banding. If you aren't an Okie, you might not realize this means placing something similar to a rubber band and then they cut them off. It's not pretty.

She says her whole life she never thought about what she was eating up until that point. Once she thought about the fact that those cows were what she was eating she decided that it was not something that she wanted to continue to do.
