I have not been posting very much lately, and that trend will probably continue on a downward slide. The cold hard fact is we are in deep doo-doo. people, and I for one am far more concerned about the state of our nation than my testosterone level, or someone's freedom of speech, or anyone else's freedom for that matter. The fact is that ALL of our freedom is at stake, like it or not!
Perhaps it takes a foreigner, an immigrant, to realize just how good we have it here. I am a Canadian national. and Canada is probably the second best place to be in the world. I emphasize, SECOND best. And it is a very distant second. But I am an American now, and it's time we rallied to the flag, folks, and stop our bickering amongst ourselves.
President Bush has just announced that Iraq is presenting a threat that is beyond our wildest imagination, and I for one believe him. I have only been a citizen of this great nation for 4 years, but I would gladly give my life for it, because the life I endear so much was given me by this nation in the first place.
I went to college here! I got my fist job here! I learned how to survive here! It's time we gave something back. folks! It's time we recognized just how incredibly fortunate we are!
I received an email from the father of a secod cousin of mine back in Canada yesterday. His son, four years old, had been struck by a truck and was in intensive care in a regional hospital 90 miles away. He could not drive his own car to see his son because he could not afford the insurance to license his car. HE HAD TO BORROW A CAR TO GO SEE HIS OWN SON!!!
That is common in Canada! And Canada is one of the more privileged nations in the world. Can you even imagine how desperat things must be in Narirobi? Or Afganistan? We have it so good here, and yet we worry about our freedom of expression, our rights, our security. At least we have security, and whether we like to admit it or not, that is rare, my friends.
Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program. I just wanted you all to know that my biggest regret right now is that I am too old to serve in the Military. If they would have me, I would be first in line!
This is a great country, but it doesn't come without a price.
