Re: For all you Tablet experts
I have iPad 3. I like it quite a bit. My only quibble is that it's not always easy getting files on and off since it doesn't support USB memory drives. I have to synch it with my computer at home or send things to it via email or cloud.
I just use wifi where I can find it and save the money.

I think its settled, when this started I was seriously looking at the kindle but with all of your help the Nexus 7 is just a much better product all the way around. As for an Ipod, only one thing wrong with it that I can see, its an Apple product. Now I don't mean to be insulting all you Apple users, its a fine if not superior product however, I am not an Apple kind of person.
Thank you all again, what a great group.

Re: For all you Tablet experts
Right now, I'm watching Apple's presentation. They are introducing a new IPad and a new IPad Mini. Although the new full size IPad is improved, faster processor, faster wireless, etc., I don't see it as being worth an upgrade from the IPad I have.
I am impressed with the IPad Mini, however. It's the same physical size as the other mini tablets offered, the Nexus 7 and and Kindle Fire, but the display size is 7.9" diagonal as opposed to 7" diagonal for the other tablets. That extra .9" makes more difference than you might think. It has the same display resolution as the larger IPad and will run all of its apps. The price is a little high, $329 for a 16GB wireless model, which compares to $199 for a similarly configured Nexus 7 or Kindle fire.

There are other differences too. The screen may be physically larger, but has fewer pixels than the Nexus 7. Personally, I'd still go wtih the Nexus, but I'd wait for a couple weeks, as it seems the 8gb is now sold out (read: no longer being manufactured), and we know a 32gb is coming down the pipe. There's also rumours that a new version will include a spot for 3g access, which would likely result in a price closer to the ipad mini.

I'm on hold buying anything until the dust settles. Too many things, Windows 8 included, will be showing up the next couple of months. I want to get my hands on them first.
Upon further reflection, I'm disappointed in the IPad Mini. It's essentially the same IPad I have, just shrunk down, and it's too damn expensive compared to the others. For a Mini, I'm probably leaning toward the Kindle Fire HD just because I'm so invested in Amazon. I get my music, my e-books, videos, and my audible books from Amazon and have an Amazon Prime membership.

I use AMAZON prime... if that's what you mean by Prime.
I can use it on any computer or in any browser as long as I can log into Amazon.
