Duh

Post by MacTheWolf (imported) »

This morning, after a long sleepless night, I couldn't get my computer to recognize my password. I tried typing it in for several minutes, gave up and went to nap for an hour.

When I awoke, I checked my keyboard and found that I had the Caps key on. Duh.

After turning off Caps key, computer recognized password :)

I do that all the time. Let my feeble fat fingers hit the caps lock key and type crappy passwords.

Don't feel bad.

A few years ago a computer magazine had a tip on this. I believe it's possible to reassign keys on a computer keyboard, so you could reassign the cap lock key to something less annoying, particularly considering how seldom a lot of us use it.

I once wrote HP I think it was and suggested an electroshock feature be built into the CAPS LOCK key. They never did write back.

Then again, Nikon refuses to build my dream camera, too, and Dodge once told me I was insane for the truck I devised.

I'm really curious as to why the caps lock key even exists. I've maybe used it once in my entire writing life, and the other 99.9% of the times it's just an annoying thing that I hit by mistake. I actually think it's much easier just to hold down the shift key while I'm typing when I want something all-caps.

Do what I did. Pry the bastard out and toss it in the trash. I kept the key but you get the idea.
