Hi !

I am quite aware how Androcur works and I know that it is effective in cutting down testosterone levels.

What I do not know is what happens after I cancel androcur treatment. Will previous testosterone levels return? I f yes, then how fast? Will I gain fertility again without any setbacks? Is there any other information I need to know to carry out this trial period, lets say 2-3 months. Or do I have to be under specialist supervision in order to avoid complications.

Erikboy: Here's a direct quote from the information that comes with the Androcur.

Side effects

Over the course of several weeks, Androcur gradually restricts the man's ability to procreate. This ability is regained within a few months of discontinuing the therapy.

As for being under a therapists care, yes, you should be. I'm telling you this although I'm taking it and currently am not under the care of a doctor. One thing that does need to be checked, especially with high doses of Androcur is your liver function. High doses of Androcur can cause liver failure or high levels of liver enzymes. Here's two more direct quotes from the sheet.

(1) During treatment, liver function, andreocortical function and the red blood-cell count should be checked regulary.

(2) As with other sex steroids, benign and malignant liver changes have been reported in isolated cases. In very rare cases, liver tumours may lead to life-threatening intraabdominial haemorrhage. The doctor must therefore be informed of the occurence of unusual upper abdominal complaints which do not disappear spontaneously within a short time.

I'm not a physician but I'm taking that to mean if you have stomach cramps or other cramps in your stomach area.

So far I have not had any complications but I'm not taking an extremely high dose. I'm currently back to 50mg twice per day.

After being on it for one month earlier this year, it did reduce my sex drive a fair amount. Then, after being off of it for one month due to shipping problems listed in a previous post, my sex drive did return very slowly. I was only off of it for about a month and it did NOT return fully in that time frame. You mentioned that you wanted to try a trial period for 2-3 months but that may or may not be a long enough period to get the results you want. I'm at 3-1/2 months and it's slowly reducing my sex drive and I'm sure my testosterone levels but it takes time. As Andrew is famous for saying, YMWV. (Your Mileage Will Vary) meaning that some people will react fast to the Androcur and some people will take more time. Two to three months might get you to the eunuch levels of testosterone or it may take a longer period of time, higher dose, etc.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi Chris!

That was quite helpful. As I understand Androcur may act as fast as 2-3 weeks, but it also can take few months to reach castration levels. How long did it take for you to notice any change?

And of course I have to find somebody with positive androcur treatment cancellation experience.

So far taking Androcur have led directly to Orchietomy :)

It's a great feeling having my T levels reduced.

💀

Chris,

What are some of the results you have experienced with Androcur? I read elsewhere that your sex drive lowered (and then returned when a shipment was late). But are there any physical aspects you can reveal or discuss?

Thanks!

Erikboy & Slave_jim.

OK, I'll try this again. I spent about 20 minutes thinking and typing a response to you, clicked the 'submit reply' and my Internet Explorer crashed. Good old Mickey Soft LOL....

I noticed effects of Androcur after about 3 weeks. After 4 weeks or so they were very noticeable. It's coming up on 15 weeks right now and the effects are very noticeable. My sex drive is way lower than it was. Before the Androcur it was darn near an obsession. I had a constant urge for sex, masturbation multiple times a day, etc. That has dropped massively. I still have a sex drive, an ability for sex and still enjoy it but it's not constantly on my mind.

As far as physical effects go, there are some but nothing major. My wife and I have both noticed that my breasts are slightly larger. I've noticed this while jogging. There's a little more 'bounce' to them. LOL From what I have read about other peoples experiences, this can be expected. I don't think there is any growth, just a little fat redistribution going on due to lowered testosterone levels. At this point is is very minor and not really noticeable to anyone else. Also my nipples are slightly more sensitive.

Many people seem to lose strength and stamina when when their testosterone levels are lowered either via surgical or chemical castration. At this point I have not noticed this much at all although there have been a few times in the afternoon where I need to lay down for an hour due to tiredness. That may be due to the Androcur somewhat but many times I'm up at 4-5am, go jogging, then work, etc. so like most people, sometimes I need to just rest a bit. This is quite rare at this point however. I haven't really lost any stamina at this point. I do credit not losing any strength or stamina to a vigorous excercise schedule. I'm jogging over 4 miles 5 days a week. Today I actually jogged 5-1/4 miles. That's one of the reasons for taking Androcur before having actual surgery. That way my T-levels will drop somewhat slower than just dropping all of a sudden and I can excercise while this is happening. Hopefully this will help avoid the loss of stamina & strength and also help avoid the weight gain that many people experience. So far I've actually lost quite a bit of weight.

Other than that, I really haven't had any other physical changes. However, I'm sure at this point that my T-levels have been reduced quite a bit, they are not at eunuch levels. I have been experiencing the 'night sweats' that many people have talked about. They haven't been terrible, just a bit annoying. I expected this to happen so it's not a surprise. I wake up hot and lightly sweating, then a few minutes I'm cold again. So far I haven't had much as far as the 'hot flashes' that many others experience. There have been a couple of times where I'm out with the wife and I feel a slight warming but nothing major. So far I haven't just suddenly started sweating like crazy. I'm expecting this to happen sometime but if it doesn't, all the better.

It seems that some have hot flashes much worse than others.

Well, hope that helps you two and any others who read the post out. Feel free to ask any other questions you think that I may be able to help you with. I'm going to try to post this again and HOPEFULLY it doesn't crash again. LOL😄

Take care,

Chris

📏

Just a side note here; I wanted to bring up. I haven't used any of those medications; but I wanted to mention that the effects Chris is mentioning from the Androcur seems to line up almost identical to those that I experienced from actual castration.

I would have to say that this would, in my opion, at least, give credibility to the folks who say that androcur is a very good opportunity for those wishing to "try it before you buy it" when it comes to castration.

Take care,

The plus side of dyslexia is that I had to re read your post several times to find the spelling errors :-) Guess we dyslexics have our own lagage.. I wish I had been diagnosed with it early on... I did not find out until I tried to return to college in my 30's. My first english composition proffessor spotted it right away. Had me read my own paper over several times looking for spelling errors.. I found ONE... she pointed out TWENTY...

Had I known about dyslexia as a teen, I would have been given help and probably would have graduated from college!
