Re: Revolution
I gave up on it after episode 2. It wasn't going anywhere nearly fast enough for me. I understand that good shows need a lot of character development but come on, the reason the lights went out is starting to become lost in the show and all that is left after that is a bunch of canned fight scenes.

Episode 2 sucked until the last quarter.
But, episode three was much better and the story is moving along.

Yeah, three is a little better than the others have been. This probably won't ever be one of my favourite shows, but... I've watched worse. Now, this is probably meant to be a 'subtle hint', but I'd like to know why the 'R' takes a moment or two to show up in the opening title sequence, leaving just the word 'evolution' on the screen. Are they gonna imply it's we who are causing this, somehow?

Re: Revolution
Episode 4 went back to sucky
but still better then
"Hell On Wheels".

They did knock off the weakest central character.
The episode was weak but the over all story is developing - some what.

Re: Revolution
Moi, it was slow and going nowhere in #1, so what has changed?
Just for a moment think about this, electricity has only been in wide use for about 100 years, now its gone and man has been reduced to cave man. Everything stopped? really? (banging head on table) Nothing electrical works, no wind power, solar power, nothing, weeds have taken over because people don't know how to use hand tools anymore, everything is lost. (banging head on table again)

Re: Revolution
I'm still watching. It's.... somewhat gotten better. Or at least, it's not quite as terrible as it was.
Yes, there are still these great headdesk moments when you think too hard about how much was lost, and why so little has been recovered. Yes, there is still no real sign of steam technology, or really any sign that people have even made it close to the Industrial Revolution. Yes, the storyline still has issues. But.... it's not as bad as it used to be. That's honestly the best I can say about it.
Storyline and overall cheeziness aside, my main worry at the moment is actually the title sequence. When the name of the show first appears, it says 'evolution' for a second or two, before the 'R' appears to turn the title into Revolution. I have a big, bad, nasty feeling that this is a clue and a hint about the reason why electricity stopped. Please.... as cheezibad as this show might be, please don't let one of the big reveals be that somehow this has to do with evolution, or the progression of the human species in some way. Ok? I'll take aliens, I'll take magic, I'll take the hand of God, I'll even take whatever the hell happened at the end of Lost. (Ok, maybe I won't go that far.) Just not that somehow the entire frigging population of the planet evolved in such a way as to suppress electricity unless you have a magic pendant.
That may be the reason I'm still watching a show like this. Not because I enjoy it, but because I'm waiting to see just how bad this big reveal can be.
***Spoiler****
And quite honestly, the wrong frigging character died at the end of the most recent episode. I'd much rather have seen the doctor survive and the whiny daughter/sister take one. That would have improved my enjoyment of the show immensely.
**Not-so-spoilery***
You know what? It'll never happen, but I would pay money for a scene with Neil deGrasse Tyson pulling up to the cast in an electric vehicle, rolling down the window, shouting "Suck it bitches, SCIENCE!" and driving away. Do that, and I'll dutifully watch every single episode for as long as they can keep churning them out.

True, but now, we are utterly dependent on electricity and on computers. Without them, factories shut down and the money you have in the bank disappears. Your local bank has a very limited amount of money in its vault. Most of it is on some computer. What happens in a city like New York where millions live and all their food is imported? Without computers, money is worth little, if anything. What do those millions in New York have to trade for food? Who is going to ship it to them?
You might have your money in your mattress or have it buried in your back yard, but without a government to back it, it's worth nothing. We would be back to a barter economy where food and guns are probably the most valuable commodities, food, because everyone needs food, guns, because if you and your friends have enough guns, you can take the food you need.
The end of electricity and the end of computers would be the end of civilization as we know it. After billions die, it might be reestablished, but we would be thrust into a dystopian world in the meantime.
I've recorded but not watched other than the first episode, so I can't judge how accurately I think they are depicting that dystopia.

Agree with you on that, IEunuch. But its TV and requires a suspension of belief. There was a scene where Maggie was in Buffalo looking for a ship and the guy she was talking with said something about all the steamships being lost in the wars. But even in today's electric dependent society, returning to 1900 would be doable. (Good business for ice boxes and horse buggies!) Except for people living in high rises and needing elevators.

Question:
Why doesn't electricity work in this realm?
Except around the "magic amulets".

For those who have missed this . . .
the last episode was pretty good and they hinted
we will learn why the electricity went out next week. Yea!
