Why is it presumed that living longer is better than living good? I see no advantage to longevity, in the end. I would rather enjoy every day that I am here, than have nothing I enjoy in hopes of not enjoying it longer. To me quality of life is more important that quantity.

While we may disagree with the treatment reccommended by a physician,

ignoring their diagnosis and suggestions is just dumb. When thoughtful

information is available consider it.

I agree with Elizabeth. Quality over quantity. Doctors, though, are ethically bound to prolong the lives of their patients as long as possible.

Sweetpickle, Moi is a doctor. Of course, even the best doctors consult with colleagues.

Well, I would not go 'quite' that far.

Moi, everyone, including you, might rest easier if you would get a 'baseline' cardiac catheterization (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health- ... pics/cath/).

Nobody would want you to have the "BIG ONE", especially with what I P.M.ed you about living forever...

...and YOU are NOT fooling me a bit... I know what beta blockers are used for. If you were having a Myocardial Infarction you would have lived through it with the self-treatment you administered.

However, If you had a big infarction of your L.A.D. you would have needed a heart transplant to be able to walk, let alone negotiate a stairway, provided that your heart wall scarred over instead of necrosing and bursting killing you instantly in 4 days to a week or so post M.I.

I lost a good doctor friend to this when he was about 77...

If someone knew how to make zombies, this discussion would be moot. I like the idea of returning from the grave and devouring the brains of some of my EA buddies. That would be a weight-loss diet.

You hinted about buddies with low calorie brains. Am I to assume you're talking about Mac and Moi?

I told my doctor buddy about my episode.

He agreed with my take and surprised I keep Atenolol around the house, and in my cars.

Sedate, (valium), rhythm control medicine and rest was all better then the medical industrial alternative of getting jabbed, pocked, stimulated, radiated and maybe treated for an incidental finding not related to the current problem. Or just plain over treated when our conservative approach works.

A beta blocker is a good bet for an MI too.

I bet prompt valium & beta blocker would be better then prompt aspirin for either arrhythmia or MI.



And either better then nothing but one must rest, go down, stop fighting gravity.

My friend has had an episode and two brother in laws, several. One had successful ablation surgery.

But, his was bad.

Mostly now, I object to the inconvenience.
