A majority of those who join the Eunuch Archive do so primarily to read the Fiction Archive.
A team of volunteers (though primarily Cainanite) has been working to restore all of the stories from the old Archive. After nearly a year of work nearly two-thirds (6,574 of 10,560) have been restored and work is continuing on the rest.
The programming skills of Talula have finally enabled a way for new stories to be submitted and added to the Archive. This, too, has taken a great deal of time and effort.
Since the new stories submission has been enabled, only about ONE NEW STORY per day has been submitted, and nearly half of those have been written by Cainanite, including all of the chapters of his book-length novel.
WHY SO FEW? The only pay that authors receive is the reviews that Archive members write. During the year in which old stories were being cleaned up and reformatted almost no new reviews were written. Now that new stories are being produced, still no new reviews are being written.
If you want to read new stories,
YOU NEED TO PAY FOR THEM BY WRITING REVIEWS!

Re: Want more stories?
Feedback has always been a problem. Now that VB and the Fiction Archive are the same log-in, I fail to understand why no one can come and leave a review.
Years ago, we had a rude poster state that the feedback forum was nothing more than a mutual admiration society. Well, he was sort of right - because the same people posted reviews over and over.
I read other sites as well, everything from Harry Potter to fanfiction.net to ASSTR.org, and I always leave a review or send an email to the author when I read something. Even if I didn't really like it.
I think the last thing I posted to EA before "Simon Beyond" was the Christmas Carol themed story, and in fact, you gave it a review. Those who know me on other sites, without naming names, will know that I write a LOT of stuff. And I write it for those sites because it gets reviews there.
Hell, my story "Zero" on ASSTR/PZA (incomplete) took more hits and got more feedback in the first month than any one of my stories here ever got in its life history. I suppose I could tweak it a bit, although one character is a medical-eunuch, and post it here.
But why bother?
One memorable thing that stand out, however, is the shit-storm that was created by the story "The New Neighbor Boy". Now that was a good thread!

Re: Want more stories?
I'll be honest here. When I wrote my very first story, and submitted it to the archive, it got comments. Not all of those comments were positive, and it started a dialog that scared me away.
Looking back, that dialog was incredibly important to me, and I probably wouldn't have come back if it were not for that thread. It stuck with me. It became part of my subconscious. I wouldn't be writing for this site if it were not for that thread.
I don't live for comments, but I certainly notice them. They mean a lot to me, even if the comment is negative. I would love to see more comments and reviews. I know by the hit counters that most stories are getting 20 to 30 hits per day. Most of those people can't even hit the stars to rate the story. That makes me mad.
I can't remember who said it to me, but there was an idea floated (in jest I think) that readers would be blocked from reading stories unless every so often (say 5 or 10 stories) they post a review. Maybe we shouldn't take that comment as a joke?
I know I'd love to see more people at least hit those little rating stars. A written review would be stellar.

Re: Want more stories?
I write when I want to write. That includes stories and reviews.
When I write stories, I'm not doing it to look for accolades. I do it because I want to and I don't really care if one person or ten-thousand read it. I did it because I wanted to.
When I write reviews it's usually because I found something compelling about a story and felt I wanted to give a proper thanks to the author.

Re: Want more stories?
One thing that tamps down my thought to write reviews is that old saying, If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
I've seen storys that have un-needed torture after the de-balling. I don't like it, but I'm not the author.
