WOW! And I thought Lupron was bad. At least that nightmare slowly went away after a few months once I refused to take any more injections of that poison.

It's a shame, we hear of so many reports of side effects from drugs that we either learn about too late or are never even made aware of before we start taking them.

Once one loses his (or her) libido for a period of time, its hard to make it come back. Even HRT doesn't work sometime.

This has actually happened to me from this awful drug. I have no libido, ED, shrinkage plus a horrible load of other side effects like muscle loss and brain fog.

And yes, as for myself and so many others TRT does not work at all to add insult to injury. It may take a while to find out why.

I was hoping to see how you guys survive with these symptoms, for those who get them bad and don't take TRT after castration or indeed any older guys who took Lupron.

Curious77, I've posted this before in other threads but you asked and I think it's important enough and worth being redundant.

I was on Lupron for a year and a half as part of the treatment for prostate cancer starting in '05. Once it took effect it was miserable. NO libido, hot flashes, bad attitude and a "don't give a shit" outlook on life in general 24-7. All the docs told me was testosterone contributes to prostate cancer so I got an injection every 3 months without questioning it. I didn't know anything about hormones at the time. As time went on I began to figure it out. After a year and a half my PSA remained at .5 after 6 weeks of beam radiation so I decided I wasn't going to take any more Lupron. My urologist at the time was lukewarm at best to the idea but at $1400 a dose I figure he would have had me on that poison for the rest of my life. It took a while, I can't say exactly how long, probably several months but i slowly started feeling like my old self. My attitude improved and enough of my libido returned to keep me interested. I was no longer an every day guy like I was in my earlier years or even a 2 or 3 times a week guy like I was pre-cancer but at least I could enjoy occasional sexual activity. I'm 68 and that's fine. I just wish these damn doctors would do a better job of informing us of the side effects when they prescribe this sort of stuff. Lupron-never again!

I've been taking finasteride for about a year now...for prostatitis...I just jerked off a little while ago...although I cannot get an erection, and my orgasms are usually dry, I CAN still orgasm...(and this with taking 4 mgs of estrofem and 50 mgs of spirotone daily for the last 3-4 months, in addition to the finasteride)...I may be the worlds horniest 67 year old man...sheesh...smooches Jackie

Same for me, bf jack. That radiation beam apparently killed more than the prostate cancer. Erections and ejaculations are nothing but memories now but I fortunately can still easily experience a quite satisfying orgasm. That beam must have also cooked my nuts some too because my T levels run well below 200 now. It must be enough though and I like the way I am now. Still

Of course it is really criminal how companies like Merck will say "there's not evidence" when they know full well that Propecia disrupts DHT (that's the whole point) and that DHT is the most androgenic compound in the male body. Drug safety is supposed to be "guilty until proven safe" -- it is up to them to prove it is safe, not others to prove it is dangerous. In many hair loss forums the guys know that this is a side effect but say things like "I'd rather have my hair". In any case, it is a drug that should only be prescribed when necessary (maybe some prostate conditions?), not casually like a recreational drug.

With all the warnings about not allowing children or pregnant women (or who might become such) to handle the pills, was there ever any doubt? God only knows what this crap would do to a male fetus, or a prepubescent boy if ingested.
