Sorry I haven't been on much lately. I've been swamped with activity in my "new life!" Just to bring anyone interested up to speed I had Gastric Bypass surgery in mid April of this year. So far through this process I've lost 109 pounds to date. Still have a long ways to go but so far ecstatic with the results! I also just took my third dose of long acting anti-androgen last week. Currently my endocrinologist has me on Trelstar LA every three months. Love it!
The huge weight loss I've had so far has way more then compensated for the energy loss due to low T. I was going to give the exact number on my T count but can't find where I put my lad work report. UGH! I do know that my T levels have been consistently holding way, way below 100 mg/dl for quite some time now. It sure is nice being free from the abnormal hypersexual drive that I had to deal with for years & years!
I guess that I should add that due mainly to my Gastric Bypass surgery I'm off of a ton of meds that was themselves really messing me up which is awesome! In addition thanks to the Trelstar & my super low T count I've been able to get off of my bipolar meds & I haven't had a bipolar episode since I went on long term T count reduction. As a side note here & a disclaimer DON'T GO OFF OF ANY OF YOUR PRESCRIBED MEDS WITHOUT TALKING TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST! There's a right way & a wrong way to get off of psyc meds. Just stopping your meds on your own is the WRONG WAY!
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask & I'll do my best to answer if I can. Even if I'm not on here on a regular basis replies here go to my email inbox so I can still respond.
Hope maybe this is encouragement for some! Have a great day!

Re: Quick Update
BIGDUDE, your profile says you're also on Lupron. That may be outdated. I was also on Lupron for 1 1/2 years along with 40 treatments of beam radiation as part of my treatment for prostate cancer. The Lupron started about the middle of '05. I wouldn't wish that poison on anyone. Now I know what menopause must be like. Irratability, hot flashes, NO libido, didn't much care about anything, even my business. Destroyed my porn collection. I finally refused to take any more injections. The urologist said, "Well, it's been a year and a half and you're PSA is steady at .5 so I supose you could try without it". At $1400 per injection they probably would have let me be miserable for the rest of my life, had I not objected. It took about 4/5 months to start feeling like my old self again. About 6 years later now and my PSA is still .5. If the prostate cancer comes back I'll seriously consider castration before I would ever go back on Lupron. My T levels run well below 200 now anyway. How much lower than that would it need to be? Lupron, never again!

Re: Quick Update
One other effect of Lupron I forgot to mention, noticeable man boobs that I still wear today in spite of an over 40lb weight loss. I'd rather not have them but I figure they're part of me for the duration now so I may as well enjoy them. They give me something to play with.

Re: Quick Update
I only took one shot of Lupron before switching to Trelstar. As for me the "monopause" thing wasn't that bad. I only dealt with hot flashes & such for a short time. As for me I wanted to be free of my porn addiction & out of control sexual rage. I wanted to be free to enjoy life without having a huge urge to look at women as nothing more then sex objects and be able to see all people as wonderfully & masterfully created individuals. By going on to Lupron, then Trelstar, I have been able to do just that.
I now have my life back & I am now happier then I have been since I was a child! For that I have to thank God, a very understanding & supportive endocrinologist, & Trelstar.

Re: Quick Update
Others have posted similar satisfaction and I'm happy it worked out well for you. My experience with Lupron was not so fortunate.
