My Doctor recently took my testosterone levels and it came back at 138. The Doctor wants to give me a hormone shot every 2 weeks for 6 weeks then check again (i have already had two of them). For the first few days everything seems great but after a week it is like I am running on empty. Not exactly sure what to do and could use some advice.
The funny thing is ever since I was young I wanted to be castrated but now that I am 52 it seems to have happened on its own.

Re: 138
I'm usually running around that level. My real problems occur when I swing from a high number, back to a lower one. My body needs time to adjust, and I usually revert to anger and frustration. I've never had very high numbers, so I wouldn't know what running on a full tank would be like.
The older I get, the less dramatic my swings in hormone level are. The transition period is also lessened. All I can tell you is that when your hormone levels shift, it takes time for your body to adjust. During the initial part of my adjustment, it is like my thinking is slowed. Like my thoughts are wading through wet concrete. It causes me a great deal of frustration. Fortunately, the shift is temporary. As my body settles into a new rhythm, I start to feel more like myself. Calm, centered, and thoughtful.
On my higher hormone days I feel more active, and urgent in the things I do, but my thought processes are not as involved. I've mentioned before that I tend to do more, but am more likely to injure myself too. I'm more like a teenager in my thinking. I leap before I look, kind of thing.
When I'm transitioning down in hormone level, for the first bit it is like I am struggling to think at all, but that goes away after a few days, and I find I am more at peace. Sexual thoughts disappear. I wake up less in the night because I have less or no nocturnal erections. (I find them uncomfortable, and unnecessary.) I generally feel more like a peaceful and whole human being.
Of course everyone is different. You may well feel more yourself with a higher level of testosterone in your system. There are gels you can use, and your doctor can prescribe, that may help. You may need to talk to your doctor about different options to keep your level up.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Re: 138
The night of my first injection I had my very first wet dream which was a bit of a shock.
I was on the antidepressant Lexapro for a long time but got off and decided to try hormones
After having two injections i can say that 1) i get an almost immediate headache, and 2) I do get a surge of energy. The first time it seemed to last a week this last time a few days, and I do feel very angry.
A few years ago my hormones were tested and they were 178 so they have fallen big time. Also, Have found myself having very strong sexual urges.
