Houston, you may have a problem

Post by Mounds_dont (imported) »

Hi,

I am an infrequent visitor here, and I was noticing some links that were having problems loading and after repeated tries, loaded slowly. So I cruised the site. Fiction Archive is giving errors on sign in and repeated tries does not help. The forum loaded after 8 tries.

I tested my connection and I am sending and receiving at 30mps with 0 packet loss. I have cleared the cache on all my browsers and continued to get the errors.

Odd. Well, it seems to be ok now. I was working on it last night a bit but don't think that should have caused anything (except for once when I accidently pushed the wrong key).

Thanks for letting us know.

I have noticed that at 1am eastern time, posting gets really slow and sometimes hangs.

Since it happens only at 1am and it happens regularly, I avoid that time.

I suspect that the server or some other piece of daa equipment is performing other tasks like maybe backups or some such thing.

The slowness could also be due to a mirror updating wholesale.

Several services use mirrors to maintain websites for speed.
