I've always tended to believe that all calcium supplements do to the body is calcify things that don't need calcifying - IE the kidneys.

Achieving low fat status is easy - they take the fat out and replace it with wheat product, corn syrup, and sugar. All of your no-fat/low fat products are loaded in sugars, therefore carbs, which cause insulin spikes that create weight gain. And in the case of a diabetic, everything you've been told about diet (high carb, sugar that is planned for is fine, no fat) is DEAD WRONG. Literally. It's all a racket by the ADA and Big Pharma to make more money, because diabetes is a wet dream come to life for their money making industry.

I did all the heart healthy "proper diet" thing for years. I got my weight up over 200 lbs. on a small 5'8" frame and felt like shit, with a whole raft of medical issues. After shedding nearly 60 lbs and going from a 38" waist to a 32" now, I feel great. I consume huge portions of meat, cheese, eggs, and above-ground vegetables and try to avoid processed garbage. The changes, even without hard exercise, are, to me, miraculous.

It amazes me how the human animal manages to survive and thrive in almost every climate on vastly different diets., from the Inuit (fat, meat. and fish., with almost no veggies or grains), to vast parts of the world where people thrive on a diet of white rice (carbs) with a few veggies and maybe a little fish. (and those are some of the longest lived parts of the world.) to vegans who live on beans and greens and fruit.

Menopausal women are prone to osteoporosis due to hormonal change, Milk and soy are good source of calcium. Vitamin D is needed for proper absorption of calcium in the body.
