When I wrote the message you replied to, I assumed that the reason that story had not ratings was that few readers knew that it was in the new archive. I think it was added less than a month ago and no announcement was made.

That story now has four stars with 11 votes.

As stories are promoted from the old archive to the new, they are not announced, just moved.

That was when we didn't have any NEW stories that could be submitted. Now he just does it whenever he has the time... and when there are some stories that have been edited for him to throw over.

I don't know how many languages our New Story Editor reads ... so it might be a problem getting him to proofread it. But I'm sure he'll want to see it, and he'll eventually figure out how to get it released. The more languages, the better. Plus I suspect he'd be happy to discover other people that he could consult who natively speak other languages.

If you are doing a straight translation, just list yourself as translator not author.

If you want to do more of a rewrite, or extend the story, it would be good to try to get permission from the original author. Belay that. It would be good to get permission from the original author in any case, though that would likely just be a formality ... if the original author is still around.

I've had several of my stories translated, and I always take it as a compliment that someone likes what I've written well enough to translate it. I think most authors feel the same.

My pathetic excuse.

I got caught up writing a story and chatting with Paolo. By the time I realized I was supposed to be publishing the stories, I was too tired to do so. Then on Saturday, I got my phone number changed, and that also meant disruption to my internet service.

Luckily, it is back up today, and I have just completed it.
