I was given the first story as a gift for my birthday. It was a wonderful present, and totally unexpected. I can do anything I like with it, so I added a very tiny bit, and decided to post it here. The story also inspired me to write a sort of spin-off. A little children's book the doctor from the first story, might have in his waiting room.

After I read Dr.Gelding's story, I was imagining myself sitting in a doctor's office, and reading the article in Northwest Observer Magazine while I wait for a blood test or something. It is exactly the type of magazine article doctors like to leave around. It really struck a chord with me. Suddenly I was thinking about the families and children sitting in Doctor Gelding's waiting room. They're worried and upset about what is to happen. I made the leap that a compassionate old doctor like R.O. Lazar would want to ease their minds, and distract them a bit.

I couldn't do anything else until I finished writing the children's book I imagined he'd write. I kinda scared myself when it was done. If I could draw, I'd have done the illustrations too.

I'm glad you liked it. It scares the crap out of me.

"Dr. Gelding" was also a great read.

Apparently, my Jedi mind control is leaking again, because I've been batting this idea around and trying to outline it for a few weeks!

I am so jealous of this one; I wish I'd written it! It's a great story, with a real feel for the characters, too.

CvanD wrote up one a while back called "Goodbye, Testicles" based upon the real book "Goodbye Tonsils."

Yes. It has been back up for a while. I love that book. It is just creepy enough.

This one I wanted to be a little more schmaltzy. A little less like, 'Goodbye, Tonsils', and a little more soothing like, 'Goodnight, Moon'. I was looking for less of an answer to, what to expect when you go to the doctors', and more of an answer to, "Why the heck are they doing this to me?"

It is the way a parent might explain this to their child that is the creepy part for me. How exactly do you justify to a 6 to 10 year old that you are going to have their balls removed.

I really hope people give Dr.Gelding's story a read. It was the doctor's honest kindness that took me in. It was his kindness that also unnerved me.

Both downloaded for later reading. Perhaps while in the psychiatrist's office waiting room.... From the sounds of things, maybe that is where I should reserve them for, espcially with my mind...
