I used to have Sleep Apnea BAD! Then I had Gastric Bypass surgery & as of today I've lost 175 pounds & Sleep Apnea, along with a ton of other health problems, are gone! Don't know if that will help anyone but I thought that I'd throw it out there.
Don't know about apnea. I'm having laser surgery to widen my airway on Sept. 14. The doctor wants me to a sleep study with a capped tracheostomy tube after that. If I have moderate apnea, it could be treated with CPAP and the tracheostomy tube removed. If I have severe apnea, he might want to keep the tube in as a form of treatment. My hopes for the future a pinned on that September 14 procedure. Thanks to all who've written, and to Moi for starting this thread.
My wife uses a CPAP machine. One of our friends got up in the .night and didn't put her machine back on, she wasdead in the morning. Heidi's funeral was this last Wednesday
I don't know if this helps at all, but I sleep on my stomach. Wife says when I sleep on my back my snoring waked the dead and I breath/snore sometimes very fitfully. Sleeping on my stomach solves that.
She grinds her teeth at night. Sometimes it waked me up. She also has light apnea (?). I will hear a loud snore, and then she stirs and goes back to sound sleep. Teeth guards have solved a lot of that. The dentist sells them for 100s of dollars and then the dog chews on them and I kick the dog. Now she buys them for change at Dollar General and life is much better.
