For anyone planning to see the movie, DO NOT leave the theatre when the credits start. DO NOT leave the theatre when the lights come up. Keep your butt firmly planted in that seat until after the credits have finished. Just do it. Trust me.
You may thank me later.
I was in a rush to go to the bathroom, and I was the first one out. Is it worth going again? Actually, the movie was good enough to see again. I seldom see a movie twice at a theater, but I might see this one again.

Weekend Report: 'Avengers' Smashes Records
by Ray Subers
http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3438&p=.htm
May 7, 2012
It's been clear for a while that The Avengers would be a box office success, though few people could have foreseen this opening. The superhero team-up got off to an unprecedented $207.4 million start this weekend, which obliterates the previous all-time weekend record set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 last Summer ($169.2 million).
While it fell short of setting a new opening day record (that still belongs to Potter), The Avengers was responsible for new high marks in most other major categories. It was the fastest movie ever to reach $100 million, $150 million, and $200 million, and it set new records for Saturday ($69.6 million) and Sunday ($57.1 million) grosses. It also had the highest per-theater average ever for a nationwide release with $47,698.
Through its first three days, The Avengers has already grossed more than Thor ($181 million), Captain America: The First Avenger ($176.6 million) and The Incredible Hulk ($134.8 million). It's still behind Iron Man and Iron Man 2 ($318.4 million and $312.4 million, respectively), though it should pass those movies next weekend.

I stay thru credits. Where else can you hear the movie music in such big full 3D surround sound. It's part of what you paid for . Enjoy it.
Especially at IMAX (or the new mini-Imax theatres).
By time credits are done , aisles are clear , restrooms are not busy, since most everyone dashed off in the dark.
What's the flippin rush?

The rush comes from having sat through the last 30 minutes needing to go but remaining in the seat not wanting to miss any part of the movie. The flippin rush is the need to avoid shitting in one's pants.

Re: Marvel's The Avengers
For me, a woman with a full bladder was the Floor Show of "THE RETURN OF THE KING" at the climax of the movie.
I took my family to one of the larger theaters with stadium seating. Now this means that I sit on the ground level in my wheelchair and everyone else can sit whereever they like. The kids do and my Mom usually stays next to me. She's 90.
About thrity seconds before the last "coming attractions" ended and the final movie of LORD OF THE RINGS starts, this woman and her son and two others come in and she announces she can't climb stairs and is handicapped and forces people out of the first row, all the while eyeballing me and another person in a wheelchair at the other end of the theater. And her group split up but they all had big popcorn, big drinks, big puffy jackets and big asses from eating too mch.
SPOILER ALERT
So at the end of the movie, when Frodo fights off Gollum and destroys the ring, I hear from my right where this woman is siting "I have to go" (and I think well ya lady, you only drank 60 ounces of soda pop, what did you think was going to happen) and while the volcano is erupting, she's standing and fussing for her son to come down and take her to the washroom. Frodo and Sam are saying tender and weepy things about dying in the lava and the quest to destroy the ring and she spills ice all over the floor, onto her jacket and is generally making as much drama on the theater floor as Frodo and Sam in the movie.
Her son came about the same time as the eagles saved our heroes.
What can I Say?
A good time was had by all?
Eyes rolled. No one said anything mean or nasty.
But it was a floor show. My second floor show in a theater ever.

Re: Marvel's The Avengers
Jeez, I hate to be the wet blanket. I saw Avengers last night and was entertained, but I thought it was a lesser film than several of the other Marvel outings. The reason, I think, is the ensemble casting. We're still in the "Marvel Universe," where all the Marvel characters co-exist and can interact with each other. There are no new characters this time, just many combinations of characters from prior movies, like shuffling and reshuffling a deck of cards. This means the viewer must have seen all the prior Marvel films to fully appreciate what's happening now.
The real problem is the effect on plot and dramatic tension. There are so many distinct characters (no one is slighted, each personality is highlighted) that emotional focus becomes almost impossible. The personal histories and emotional quirks of everyone go on display - leaving the story without focus. The Big Picture is supposed to be the coming together of these individuals to form a team - The Avengers. The heroes all fight one another. Then, they find ways to unite.
But with so many characters, there's fight after fight. After so many fights among the good guys and among the bad guys, the fights between the good and the bad, when they finally arrive, feel more like a continuation than a climax. The movie often felt like an endless pointless series of tiffs, interrupted by emotional vignettes. The fact that none of the characters with "powers" is every really injured, despite nuclear-force pummeling, magnifies this feeling. Like a Road Runner cartoon, whatever happens to them, the characters will be back for the next scene.
Still, everything is very well executed. The dialog is often genuinely sharp, the photography and effects flawless. A fun, if diffuse, night at the theater.

Re: Marvel's The Avengers
Many fanboy moments for me, but the humor is what made the movie so enjoyable. I will be seeing it again. The fact that it has already hauled in $700 worldwide is astonishing. Five films to set this one up and now it will be interesting to see how Marvel lays out the set up for Avengers 2. I really wish Marvel could get back the rights to Fantastic Four to set up the Ultimates universe FF and SHIELD. That could set up a nice plot line for this Marvel-verse.

Re: Marvel's The Avengers
I watch the movies online first before deciding if a theater is something i want to do
The closest theater is 20 miles away
if I need a break I just pause it or watch part of it and the rest of the movie the next day
I go to movies on 100 degree days and enjoy the air conditioning during the summer
You can tell how popular a movie will be on how fast it shows up online
this movie was online before this movie was released in the usa
