Has castration at all affected anyone's insomnia? Or perhaps brought on the onset of it?
By the way, I wouldn't call it insomnia as it's so intermittent, but there are some months where I have a ton of trouble sleeping. What I've found works best is marijuana (I don't like the feeling of smoking it, so I put it into a tincture). Things like melatonin just make me feel like I have the flu (and then I'm guaranteed to be up all night).

That is 3 mg. use the plain.
The studies were done with over 45 mg and on over 100 mg! & !
I chew 5 to 8 tablets if I choose to use it. Sometimes with the medicine I mentioned earlier for restless legs.
I feel it does not help flip my sleep switch so much as allow an improved sleep quality if I
can just get that damned switch to flip.

BUT, sometimes the restless legs drug that is available in generic seems to work if I plan for it.
Chew the tablets. Go to bed about 45 minutes late.
Ropinirole 0.5 mg start with one, up to two. If you take it too late, you will have a hangover, like benedryl.
If I decide to use it, I would take it half past Jon Stewart The Daily Show and turn off the lights after Colbert.

Yes, narcotics have no effect as I have fibromyalgia and have been taking narcotics for well over ten years now. My doctor gives me Klonopin to sleep, but the hangover effect is so bad, I rarely take it. It makes me feel so groggy after I do wake up, that quality of life is seriously reduced. My doctor would have me take these every night along with Flexeril, which is a muscle relaxer. But again, it has the same hangover effect, so I only take it when my muscles are really tight.
Before I found out I had fibromyalgia, I used to only sleep 2-4 hours a night. I did this for over 15 years. I didn't know it but Fibromyalgia makes it impossible to get into rem sleep where our body heals and we get reinvigorated. So I found out that no matter how much I slept, I always felt tired. Because of this, I just stopped sleeping a lot because it didn't make me feel better and it seemed to be a waste of time. I always said the hardest part of my day was getting my feet to the floor. I lived on coffee and ibuprophen, which led to a heart attack at 44.
I read an article recently about this sleep pattern and people who have it can not change it. Everyone's internal clock is not set for 24 hours, mine is set for 26 and this seems to be common. I lost the bookmark because of a virus, but I will try to find it.
The longest I ever went without sleeping was 21 days. I finally ended it by learning self hypnosis. There are a lot of things that can cause insomnia, including the urge to urinate, anxiety, depression, eating too late, and what I call "guard duty", when I just can't shut my mind off.

I know one person with similar experiences. Does this sound familiar to anyone.
After a few hours of sleep I wake up. Although I do not feel hot I know what is about to happen if it hasn't already started. A massive sweating attack. Soaks through my T-Shirt, PJ's. and thick hair. Sometimes, I can ward it off by getting up, taking off my clothes and standing by an open window. But, sometimes I will still drip with sweat.
Once dry, I get back in bed and it does not happen again until the next evening.
This is not a pathology, so do not advise I get a check up. YOU get a check up.
I think of it more like an "automatic nervous system" seizure of sorts.
Anyone familiar with the phenomena?

I also have problem just like yours. I really have hard time to sleep at night so I need to drink hot milk and listen to some good music to go to sleep. Taking some mild sedative is also recommended by my doctor.
