It would be more impressive if I knew the exact route. There are many ways you could make that trip. What I will say (without giving it up) is that you were in the same state the entire time, but may not have been on 101 the entire trip. Departing 101 for a significant portion onto a parallel roadway would take less time to complete the trip.

I driven just over 140mph on two wheels on the street. Its really not the smartest thing to do...

I also used to race what's called endure karts. They are go karts that you lay down on and they are raced on road racing courses. Like most go-karts they have small engines (100cc) and no transmission. They do have lots of streamlining body work though and are surprisingly fast, on the straights they would reach a top speed of 105 -110 mph. Laying down literally an inch and a half off the ground looking between your feet has a way of multiplying the feeling of speed.

My story isn't so much about speed as it is about how dumb I must have been back then. I was driving an 8 ton International ACCO truck, pulling a 4 ton dog trailer, both loaded with oxy and accetylene cylinders. I had just left a small town in Victoria, ( Australia ) and the winding road out of there was all down hill,so in a moment of testosterone fueled recklessness, I got the truck going as fast as I could and then threw it into neutral and let it roll! I think it got up to about 85 mph. Not such a big deal compared to others' stories in here, but still scary because those old ACCOs had no power steering and only vacuum over hydraulic brakes and the dog trailer only had vacuum brakes! If anything had gone wrong, I would have been nothing more than a funeral notice in the paper. While my ambitions steer me towards a very welcome orchiectomy, I know now that age, wisdom and the loss of testosterone will stop me from doing anything even as remotely dumb as that! lol

That is impressive, though in the most traffic-choked part of it I'm assuming there was more freeway at the time since a little earthquake about 20 years ago caused a significant portion of it across a major US city to go away. It has not been rebuilt.
