Re: Considering castration, need some health related pointers
I was castrated in 2010, for various reasons. I have no regrets and those with whom I have shared the news have been very supportive. I do use Testim as I found the hot flashes very uncomfortable, and those had already started happening before I was castrated. Testim allows me to function when I want but I can control the level and find myself no linger obsessed with sex. My partner, of 36 years, was not really thrilled when I told him I wanted to be done, but no agrees it has been a good thing.

Here's a thought. Why not try one of the long acting anti-androgens such as Trelstar LA. It comes in a 30, 90, or 180 day single dosage (shot) & will knock your T-levels to almost zilch. Talk with your urologist about it. Going with the 90 or 180 day dosage will sure give you an idea of what to expect if you do decide to go the surgical route but yet give you the oppurtunity for you to decide for yourslf what is best for you & still give you the option to change your mind. Surgery is permanent, no undoing it or going back!

Do you believe 2 months of spironolactone at a daily dosage of 100mg would have an effect similar to castration? I only ask as this is what I currently have on hand (I haven't tried it)
And, for anyone to answer, what is the "safest" anti-androgen that will give one castration-like effects? I doubt the male breast cancer side effect of spiro would manifest after a mere 2 months of use, but I'm willing to buy something else if such scary side effects aren't attached to it.

Re: Considering castration, need some health related pointers
What is your desire for castration? I don't understand your desire for castration yet your concern for being able to function sexually unless it is an attempt to experience the eunuch calm. I have very low T (36), essentially castratee levels and have not experienced a calm but rather a frustration. I had hot flashes, extremely low energy, ED, extremely low ability to orgasm and generally felt like crap but I still wanted sex. Now, if this is the eunuch calm, I can do without it. If your mind still wants to have sex and your body doesn't, it it very frustrating and I would more aptly describe it as a eunuch hell rather than a eunuch calm. I would discourage doing anything permanent if you are not sure that you could live without any sex at all. I would encourage you to not utilize physical castration without trying chemical which is reversible. I feel that the mind controls your sexual desires more than your T levels. I am on TRT which helps somewhat but I still have to struggle to achieve erections and orgasms. so I would warn you that if it is not broken, don't try to fix it. Testosterone replacement therapy can be quite expensive $10-20/dayalthough I have taken the cheapest route of self injecting T CYPIONATE after trying TESTIM and ANDROGEL. I occasionally get swelling and inflamation as well as tenderness in my thigh where I inject weekly. I have difficulty in erecting and orgasming even with T and viagra, cialis or levitra. I would give anything to be able to go back to normal, home grown T but for medical reasons, it is impossible. Please don't do anything irreversible. You are very young and have lots to live for. Appreciate what you have as long as you can. If you feel you have too high of a sex drive, you will lose that over the years and by the time you are in your 60's as I am, you may yearn for what you once had.

Re: Considering castration, need some health related pointers
I'm 69 years old and I was recently castrated by Dr. Arnkoff in southfield mi. he has done many castrations and is very good at it and very pro. I can still get erect and cum, but very little cum now. I do get high doses of testosterone every two weeks, but I'm horney more now that I was castrated by a young woman nurse and a great Dr. just thinking of them castrating me gets me excited and erect as they allowed me to watch as they castrated me and took pictures and after gave me my testicles in a sample jar with fermylidhyde, I can now look at the real thing and not fantise about being castrated I'm a real eunuch now and love it.. If you have any questions please ask... my email is [email protected] good luck and happy castration to you...jere
