German celebrity bunny crushed to death by cameraman

Rabbit born without ears killed by TV crew member just as Saxony zoo prepared it for global fame

An earless baby rabbit that became a rising star on Germany's celebrity animal scene had its 15 minutes of fame brought to an abrupt end when it was accidentally stepped on and killed by a television cameraman.

The fate of 17-day-old Til, a male bunny with a genetic defect, was plastered across German newspapers on Thursday, the same day a small zoo in Saxony was to have presented it to the world at a press conference.

The cameraman told Bild newspaper he hadn't seen Til, who had buried himself in hay, when he took the fateful step back on Wednesday.

Zoo director Uwe Dempewolf told Spiegel magazine Til didn't suffer: "It was a direct hit."

Germany has been home to several global animal celebrities in recent years, including polar bear Knut and Paul the prognosticating octopus.

If someone eats the bunny it won't go to waste. It will go to waist.

The bunny got 15-minutes of fame in life and now it's getting another 15 posthumously.

Curiously -- Punxsutawney Phil, the famous weather prognosticating ground hog has died several times over the many years that Punxsutawney has held its drinking party in February. No one has ever figured it out because all groundhogs look the same and a substitute is found out in some local field.

Punxsutawney Phil is wild and does bite. Watch the man who reaches into the make-believe den to get grab phil, he's wearing an armored glove so his had isn't bloody when it comes out.

and even more Phil is Philomena because female groundhogs are not as ragingly nasty and snappy.

This poor bunny without ears might have been replaced if they could just surgically altered a regular bunny.

I wonder if there is a forum with a community of bunnies who all want their ears surgically removed... full of debates on the best methods and earless bunny porn...

...I wonder if it's called the Earnuch Archive.
