This jumping one hour back and one hour forth could seem harmless, instead it creates huge problems for information technology in unimaginable ways. Problems mean costs and higher prices for software.

Also you just might forget time to time to consider time shifting when it is needed.

For that reason things are related to UTC only that are time critical. Or when universal time understanding is important. Like logging global or local events.

Administrators must be aware which setting their servers have regarding DST. How time is represented, in various channels, how to deal with missing hour or double time entries, if DST settings were wrong, how to make things look right, how to backtrack events. etc.

I suggest to use UTC everywhere. All around the world. Then it is always clear what time is it.

I am not an early bird. Slow to get my motor working in the morning. The more daylight before I pull myself out of bed the easier on my "I hate mornings" mood.

Standard Time is Best Time or it wouldn't be Standard now, would it?

I never understood why Arizona didn't switch until I was down there in May when the temperature outside was somewhere between dry sauna and the depths of hell. Staying on Standard time gives the people who live there more DARKNESS in the evening, which means they can go outside and play when it gets cooler.

But the indian reservations go on DST in the summer which leads to different time in many parts of the state. You drive in and out of different times.

I seem to remember, way back in the 50's

DST protesters were always reminded

the Minnesota dairy farmers needed the time change for the critter.

Anyone remember that one from the old days?

BTW

Earlier darkness in Arizona means kids might have some evening play in the Summer and not get heat stroke.

💡 Remember Arizona = 1 / Canada 💡

Moi, you of state rights origin, DST is not federal its state mandated. Yes each state decides what its going to do.

Personally I would like it to remain DST forever and never change back.

No!

Somethings are not even the province of the States, Counties, etc.

Establish when high noon is, one time and leave it alone.

No tinkering. No DST. If an individual or an employer want to have

"personal time", that is their business. NASA has Mars time for each lander.

And don't get me started on metric time.

Order yours today before government mandated conversion creates a run on the market.

Hands off Time. No government manipulation. None.

DYK

...that the country had about 23 time zones until the Railroads established the 4 we have now for their operations?

...furthermore, the railroads DO NOT used DST. IT would cause train wrecks...

Indiana does DST now as well, although which zone it is in has varied. Its now mostly in Eastern, with a few parts in Central..

No thank you, I watched Eerie, Indiana. One episode the kid was lost in the world of the missing hour. Also Indiana is NOT California. I want One Standard Federal Time Zoned Time and no messing with it from then.

Weights and Measures are Fed. DST makes as much sense as a summer pound and a winter pound, or gallon, or inch etc. Don't mess with time once the clock is set.

Standard Time is standard. Why mess with it.

Moi, we mess with it because we can. It really does not matter however, would you like the sun coming up at 4 am with standard time. These little adjustments are but a inconvenience to some, none to others, I don't mind at all, I love it but if we were to pick one and stay with it, I would pick DST every time.
