I went to my new urologist today. Right off the bat I knew I liked him. He walked into the exam room and introduced himself to my wife & I. Then he proceeded to tell me that he had his staff transfer over my records & sonogram from my previous urologist over to him and that he reviewed everything that had been done and that he had a couple of questions.

We spoke for a couple of minutes and I answered his questions and he answered mine. I also gave him the drawing I found online that showed exeactly where the pain was which he appeared to likeand he even asked me a question off of it. Next he said there was two possibilities where the pain could come from & he wanted to examine me to see if he could find anything.

After all was said and done he was upfront & honest with me and said because of my rather large size (I'm still a really big guy!) he couldn't really nail anything down. He also told me that he found it interesting that when he tried to check my prostate he could apply pressure with his finger & cause pain but that e could not get good feel of my prostate. He said since other doctors threw every kind of med at me for my pain and nothing worked he won't beat a dead horse there and throw more meds at me.

He concluded by telling me the only thing he can do for me is to tell me to take acetominifin to help mask the pain and that he was going to refer me to a pain speialist and hopefully they might be able to help.

It sure was nice to not be blown off, not just throw meds at me, be caring & hoest, actually spend some time with me, and then instead of saying "To bad, so sad" but rather send me onto someone else who will hopefully be able to help.

We FINALLY found out the REAL cause of my testicular pain. I was referred to a "chiropractic physician" which is a chiropractor who also has medical training and license the same as a m.d. I never heard of such a person before but I was pleasantly surprised to be sent to one. He did a shock test where he attached electrode pads on my lower back and on the inside of my leg right by my left testicle.

Next he took a taser looking thing & gave me some shocks around my lower back (OUCH!). When he got done he explained to that looking at the other tests & such that others did + his tests that I've got disc degenerative disease in my lower back, primarily at L4, and that's where the nerves run that go to your testicles thus those nerves are being pinched which causes my testicular pain. He also gave me the good/bad news that when I get healed up from my gastric bypass surgery here in about 4 - 6 weeks he'll send me over to a surgeon who should be able to do minor surgery & stop my pain. Yea!!!

The moral of the story? Just because one doctor can't help you there is a doctor out there somewhere who can.

Be very cautious and get more than one opinion on any back surgery. I've had five now on L4-L5, have a permanent neuro-stimlator implanted, and wish to hell I never knew what L4-L5 was. See if there are alternatives first before any cutting is done, especially if they want to do a discectomy / fusion.

Thanks Kristoff! Will do! I'll be exploring all options before they start cutting!

All 5 of my Lumbar disks are bad...they all leak, and I have multiple herniations. I wasn't even a candidate for back surgery. I have a morphine pump implant that drips into the spinal fluid. The stimulator had no affect on my pain.

I do remember in my early days of seeing my pain specialist he was telling me they have procedure where they can deaden certain nerves which I guess is what they would do for Bigdude? Good Luck!!!

Been gone for a while so I thought that I'd check back in on a few things. On this thread in particular the Doc that I mentioned down below that did the shock test is now IN PRISON! Seems like he was bilking pretty much everyone that came in his door + the insurance companies +++ the Government! Rule #1: Don't steal from the Government! They hate competition!

Anyway, we FINALLY found out that I've actually got a broken/cracked all the way through on the side some how, vertebrae. Now wouldn't you know it that it just "happens" to be one of the ones down low that your nerve sheath runs through that when pinched off gives nightmarish pain in your left testicle, left side right below the kidney, & the small of the back! I'm guessing that our house has really good insulation because none of the neighbors has called 911 thinking my wife is murdering me when I scream Bloody Murder when I twist my Back wrong!

On another note here. I did get off of the Trelstar after I lost close to 300 pounds after my Gastric Bypass Surgery. When I was on Trelstar, maybe it was my imagination perhaps, but when my T-Count was running in the 6 ng/dl range with the Trelstar & the Boys were in hybernation, having pinched nerves really didn't cause them pain. Hmm... Just now thought of that.

Anyway, that's where things are at here. I'll try to check in a lil more often.

:-)
