Since i am planning to have my balls removed when possible, this exchange has been really helpful. And as i know
it is an irreversible procedure, i look forward to producing as smooth a look as possible. i also am thinking about
the removal of my penis and the reconstruction to a piss opening as much like labia as possible. Thanks for all this info!

Re: Pros and cons of the smooth look?
Since my testicles are non-functioning and about the size of garbanzo beans, I have considered castration for aesthetic reasons. If they are not performing any function, why not have them removed? My doctor was somewhat taken aback by this, but he can see the reasoning especially since removing them would eliminate any possibility of testicular cancer. He is still a bit dubious since he maintains that even though they are not producing testosterone or sperm we cannot be sure that they still are not performing some function.
I took an informal poll of the women in my life and the majority want me to go with the smooth look if I get the castration. They like penises but almost all of them think that scrotums are ugly.

Re: Pros and cons of the smooth look?
For what it may be worth, whether to be smooth or rough may be a matter of personal taste (pardon the pun?).
My orchiectomy was done in response to cancer issues, such as were fatal for my dad and brother. From my investigating reports of men surgically castrated because of cancer issues, my best guess is that many men for whom cancer risk is the main concern choose to be flatbaggers rather than smoothies, unless they go for implants.
My best guess is only a guess. My choice has been, and I guess will remain, being a rough flatbagger and not a smoothie.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
Sorry, I took Latin in high school.
Transliterated, "The taste not is disputable."
Translated, "There is no disputing the taste."
I think there is no right or wrong in being rough or smooth, except for personal and/or partner preferences.

Re: Pros and cons of the smooth look?
Since everyone seems to be talking about the advantages of the smooth look, I'll jump in with the one possible downside -- if the surgeon is too aggressive in cutting off the skin and there isn't enough left to really cover. I'm saying it is possible to have a lot of strain on the skin if too much is removed, and potentially it could tear open with activity. I think a competent surgeon won't do that, but since he's only done that specific procedure once before it is worth some thought. You mostly see this problem with people who have seen a cutter or done a self castration, in both cases the healing is difficult and sometimes needs skin grafts to make right again.

I would also like that. However, I have to find a way for my doctor to say that it is necessary.

Re: Pros and cons of the smooth look?
I am going this week to see a plastic surgeon about removing the scrotum.
Mine was stretched, I think from when I had a single testicle for a year and a half. I may have trouble getting the surgery done but I will try.
The issue is the skin and the rashes etc in the heat. Here in Japan it goes over 30 degree C all summer day and night with between 70 and 100% humidity.

Re: Pros and cons of the smooth look?
I went three years without testes and the scrotum did not shrink at all. I asked my urologist to recommend a plastic surgeon so I could get it removed. He told me that he could do it. He did it and I love the look and the feel of nothing below my cock. Like many others here, I now thing I would be happier having my penis removed also. I definitely would love to have a urethral reroute performed since my cock has shrunk about 45 percent. Make peeing easier and less messy.

Re: Pros and cons of the smooth look?
I love my reroute, but make sure you request a definitive perineal urethostomy (reroute), otherwise you'll be peeing from two places just like me. The urine flow is so strong, some of it shoots pass the reroute and up through my penis. I'm going to have it fixed at the Lyons VA hospital late spring/early summer hopefully. I'd like to have the urethra stuffed with something to make my pens feel fuller.
