Perineal Urethostomy or Reroute Scheduled!

Just wanted to share that my reroute is scheduled for Jan. 19th, in W. Orange, NJ. There's a really nice hospital there and it will be in the Short Stay Unit. The good doctor has sent me the paperwork and prescriptions I need to have filled before the surgery including a script for an EKG, CBC/CMP, Urine Culture. My urologist stated that this type of surgery is typically done for those having a penectomy, but she said in my case it was warranted since my split glans and piercing interferred with urination.

I'm still not sure why she agreed to do it, she did make me get a psych evaluation, which I did get, but hey, it was no big deal and it's covered her butt as she said it would.

Here's how I got the female urologist to do my reroute. I had a subincision done on my glans, waited several months. Had my glans pierced, which when it was done was in fact exciting since my female piercer had never done an ampallang piercing, I was her first! After a year of wearing and increasing the diameter of the piercing, I had a ring put in. So I've got a 4 gauge ring in my penis glans. Then I made an appointment with a female urologist. I don't think that she ever saw a large ring in the tip of a penis, but she did not appear shocked. I then explained that it made urination difficult and specificially asked for a perineal urethostomy or reroute. She said she could do it, but asked me to get a psych evaluation, which I did. It took some time to get everything accomplished, but it's been worth it. Note: Getting an ampallang piercing was both exciting and painful, exhilarating for me. Watching the young woman clamp my glans and take a large piercing needle in hand, telling me to take a deep breath and watch her push the needle through the head of my penis, wow. The pain of the needle subsided quickly, then I watched as she worked in the ampallang bar and tighten the round ball bearings. It was as if I was getting balls back. I have two pictures of my ampallang on one of the piercing jewelry websites, but I'm not sure the evil overlord will allow me to state who they are, I don't believe you're allowed, but it's one of three main body piercing jewelry websites.

This is what I don't want: http://penile-cancer.ca/pc/perineal-urethrostomy.htm Now I don't have near the amount of scrotum that these men do, maybe that's a disadvantage. If there was more loose skin, maybe the urologist would feel more inclined to reduce the amount of it.

I want a smooth look without the folds, but I'm not sure if the urologist will remove the extra unnecessary unwanted scrotal skin. My female urologist did tell me, not ask me, that one of her male colleagues will be assisting her in the operation. This tells me that she probably has not done a perineal urethostomy before and maybe he'll be more willing to remove most of the remaining scrotal skin. I'm just going to say, "If you can remove the extra scrotal skin so that things are smoother down there, that would be great." I'm actually still thinking about what might work the best. So we'll see what happens. As it is, I've got to go to my regular doctor for CBC blood test, EKG, urine culture. She doesn't know about the surgery but I wonder if she knows why men have perineal urethostomies? 90% of the time you get them when you're also getting a penectomy. It'll be interesting to see how my doctor responds when she learns I'm having this operation.

I think that to have a reroute some time before a penectomy is recommended for somebody who does not wish a SRS.

I've done a ton of research preparing for this operation and I still can't find out if they split the urethra or if they'll actually cut through it completely and then pull a small portion of it forward. If this was a penectomy operation, they'd cut the urethra from the penis and pull it down under the scrotum, but that's not normally what they do otherwise. (Is it wrong for me to hope that they make the mistake and think that I'm here for a penectomy?) There's the definitive perineal urethostomy, which I hope is what they do for me, and the 7-flap urethostomy, in the definitive they may a inversed "U" incision and the 7-flap is an incision shaped like a "7" I guess it won't really matter, the clock is ticking, got to be at the hospital by 11:30 am this Thursday.
