Personality changes thru life

I am not sure if I can come up with a good title for what I want to ask, but here goes.

I think a lot of the technical advances (my area) and maybe a lot of the artistic things in life come from people whose brains are wired a little differently and think a little differently. Different can range from 'colorful' to full blown loony. I am refering to the 'colorful' who still function in life.

I just had another case of one of those people who were just enviable for their dedication, energy and intelligence in younger years. However, now he has joined my growing list of such people who has edged from colorful to loony with more years.

Is that a normal change in many people as they get older? What causes that? Any ideas?

My observation is that, barring the sort of personality changes linked to dementia or other mental disease, as people get older they tend to get more so. Generous loving people become more generous and loving. Bitter, angry people get more so as they age. Eccentrics often drift over the line into full scale loonyness without even being aware of it.

The demons of ADHD visited on the young come back in older age to haunt.

Sometimes, change just happens. All my Board career you guys have known me as a lush. Started Tequila shooters on rising and continued through the day.

A few months ago, I just lost interest. I do not know why. I have had a drink on several occasions but one is enough, and taken slowly. I did not try to make this change happen. It just did.
