We went to a funeral at the local VA hospital chapel today. I do not know if it is SOP at the VA or the family's choice, but there was a lady on a harp who went on and on. Harp music is so sad I began to think of other things to keep from sobbing:

It got me thinking about what I would want at my funeral and I instantly knew the answer (I would want people to think about life and not death):

I am just curious if anyone else has thought about what music they might wantd at their funeral and what that would be.

Re: Funeral music
I don't know. I dont't think you can call this harp music very sad. (Although I suppose they do have a few other instruments going.)

Re: Funeral music
I have it covered, no funeral, but if you must have a party, bring in a good band play some lively music, something to raise the dead.

Re: Funeral music
I do. But I also laugh at good funerals. They serve a purpose. This one was at a VA hospital, so it reminded me to talk to my son about military service when he is of age, which we did last night. The funeral of my good friend back in the southeast which I posted about early in the summer reminded me with her grandson's words to live "with an open heart and an open door." I talked with the family about that when I got back and I have noticed a subtle change in how we do things.
I think in this particular case what got me was that the harp music was sad and it went on and on and on and on and on.
