Knife of Klingsor, Part 13

Post by Charlieje (imported) »

I was going to send Paolo a private message about this submission, but in light of the recent mood on the board, and the lack of posts recently, I decided I absolutely HAD to post publicly.

Paolo, you have totally outdone yourself! This chapter showed such feeling, such commitment and love, you had me in tears as I read it. I know this is a hard judgement to make because you have written such great stuff, but I think this is one of the most beautiful chapters you have ever written! You had me in tears at least twice.

TOTALLY AWESOME! Anyone who doesn't read this series, Harry Potter fan or not, well, it's your loss!

i am one of the biggest harry potter fans around -- i have all the books in both american and uk formats.

that said, i have come to the conclusion that paolo is the actual author of the harry potter books and that j.k. rowling is just some front person he hired to protect his privacy -- okay, so i can dream, can't i?

paolo, you did have me in tears by the end of the story -- it is beautiful, tender, touching, and lovely. i can't wait for the next chapter.

Thanks for the warning.

I usually print these stories out and read them at work whilst I am waiting for support calls. These days I am lucky if I get two per day. The people who work for the client are so well trained that they apologise for bothering me.

The problem is that I work in a very crowded open plan office, so if it brought Androboy and Charlieje to tears am I in trouble tomorrow.

Oh well, I shall just have to blame it on eyestrain from looking at a blank terminal. I look forward to it with even greater anticipation.

What more is there to say. Paolo is an incredible author. His plots are complex and exciting. His characters are fully developed and believable. Conversations sound real, rather than stilted as they too often do from lesser writers.

Paolo is also writing the story at a rate which most professional authors would envy. The prose is flowing quickly and beautifully. I’m betting that he will finish his story long before J.K.Rowlings finishes hers. It will also be much BETTER than hers. Too bad no print publisher would ever touch it…. What we really need, though, is the film.

I’ve recently checked “Google” to see if Harry Potter and the Knife of Klingsor shows up in a search under “Harry Potter.” Fortunately, it didn’t show up in the first 1500 listings. I’m not sure what might happen if thousands of kids showed up on the Archive to read this next saga in the life of their favorite wizard. I suspect that a great many would gethooked by the story.

Paolo,

I wouldn't worry too much about it (if at all). There's a long tradition of erotic fan fiction, much of it now on the web. Your story is far gentler and less overtly erotic than much of the Star Trek fiction that is on line, for example. (And I know that there are kids who are reading that fiction, both straight and gay stories that have no redeeming qualities other than the very graphic, and sometimes very violent, sex.) As fan fiction, it seems to fall well within the realm of "fair use." As for kids finding it, there's NOTHING on the web that's absolutely kid-proof. I've done some volunteer work in the computer lab at a local elementary school. Part of my job was walking around and telling 11 and 12 year-old boys to sign off from sites that make your story seem very tame.

The reason I checked Google - twice now - was to make certain that your story didn't come up early in the search. If it had appeared within the first few hundred sites, I would have worried about kids finding it too easily. That it didn't show up in the first 1500 means that kids are highly unlikely ever to see the story. Searching "Harry Potter" plus "Klingsor" brought up 161 hits, of which your story was only one. The odds of anyone making that search who didn't already know about the story are NIL.

What would happen if one or two kids actually did find it? I can't imagine more than that finding it unless they were told were to look. Would they actually read the story? Would those one or two tell their friends about it? The odds are low enough that I wouldn't be concerned. Since your stories always center on gentle and loving human relationships, rather than on the sex (which is only a small part of them), I don't think there would be any harm if a kid did read a chapter or two.

Let's just continue to think of your story as the best of the Harry Potter books, but one that will only be read by consenting adults. If one or two kids do read part of it, it's better for them than what I've already seen elementary kids surfing for in a school computer lab.

This is a great story, although I personally am not too attracted to the Gay aspect of it.

Say, could you bring the little blonde girl into it? What was her name? Maybe some kind of spell to make her into a seductress? About 18 or so....ah hell! Make her 16. Yeah! 16! That should do it! Something hot and half-naked, for my tastes. Just for us dirty old heteros?

Please?

Well, can't hurt to ask, now, can it?

:) A-1 :)
