7 Billion

Post by Riverwind (imported) »

On Monday October 31, 2011 the world population will reach 7 billion people. Water and food in short supply, so what should the world do.

WE KNOW but nobody ever asks us.

Sure. I got lots of ideas. 🙄

Consider:

The one child policy of China is going to come back to haunt them with a decline in working population.

And smarter persons choosing to limit off spring, the World population can only be dumbed down.

Conclusion:

License couples to create a child.

No birthing without a permit. No set limit on how many children but each baby needs its' own permit.

Once we accept the above, we can figure out how to do it. (Underlined 'cause I know someone is going to rag on "How?".)

;)

Is that kinda what the republicans are doing here in Wisconsin, dumbing down the population?

Only the rich would be able to have the permits, I see a big black market here.

issue permits not by family wealth, but by whether they would make good parents or not. rich people dont necessarily make good parents, poor people dont necessarily make bad parents.

And also by regional resources.

Live rural, easier to get a permit then living urban.

Just as Larry Hagman and Steve Jobs could buy a liver, I'm sure the rich might buy permits.

Unless we plan a "better" system once we agree on it.

One simple remedy could be castration, as a population control :D Gays, lesbians and most of other type pervos like us actually help for planet population to survive

most of this uncontrollable growth produces low quality human resources oflow life expectancy and deteriorate value of human life generally. Which is sad.

China isn't a problem. Problem is other areas of fast population growth like central part of africa. If wars and diseases stop there then population will grow very fast there creating another problem.

The problem here...

What I see as "the problem here" is not the 7 billion number, hell, one billion or ten billion, if all the "billions" of people were to live and act in better ways towards one another and towards their environment I believe the planet could support a much larger population, but that is not the point. The POINT as I see it, is that in breeding numbers, as in so many other things, the people LEAST qualified to do something are the ones MOST LIKELY to end up doing it. I do not know who the quote should be attributed to, but I remember reading something like "The problem with government is that the wise people who are right are always unsure of things, and the fools who are wrong are always so certain of everything." More briefly put in the old adage "A fool is more certain of everything than a wise man is of anything."

So it is with breeding also. According to demographers, about 42% of the world's population IS NOT BREEDING at sufficient rates to replace their current populations, this 42% segment of the population is predominantly in the upper lattitudes of the Northern hemisphere, about 38% are breeding at rates that maintain their current population, and about 20% are breeding at rates that cause a dramatic increase in their population. So basically, 80% of the human population is THINKING BEFORE BREEDING, and 20% is BREEDING at dangerous rates.... and let's see just who the 20% of hyper-breeders are... Nobel prize winners prehaps? NO. Great atheletes and super-genius intellects? NO. Perhaps lucky people who live in the best parts of the world where resources are best suited to support more and more people? NO.

So, in breeding more human population, as in almost everything the human race does, we see the people LEAST "qualified" to do something doing the most of it. So there it is, in my opinion, "the problem."

And now for "the solution," in my opinion, there is no "solution" to this problem other than to do nothing about it. This problem like so many other problems we face has no solution what-so-ever, other than the solution that will come about quite naturally. This problem is, as so so so many of the problems we face, a "self correcting problem." In due time, the over population of humans will catch up with the solution, and that solution will no doubt come about naturally, either some new "super virus," or world wide famine, or world wide war, or some other thing*, I do not know what it will be, I don't really care, it will be "nature taking it's course" and nothing any of us can do will start it, stop it, speed it up or slow it down.

* I sometimes like to think that the dormant "caldera" volcano in the Yellowstone park area will erupt, filling the earth's atmosphere with high altitude, sun blocking, volcanic ash clouds that will kill off 98% of all life on the planet over the course of the years it will take for all the ash to settle. Making the planet a sun-starved ice cube for a few years would definitely "cool things down a bit" and finally put to rest all those "global warming" alarmist.

The obvious answer is right below the rainbow and with the folks that inhabit there. And those that can't stay with the rainbow, well, eunuchism should be the valid option.
