A lot of my favorites aren't on the archive anymore... ones like "Downstairs at the Kinky Fetish Botique", "Electric Chair" and "Alien Invasion"... Any ETA on when/if the missing stories will get posted? Are the editors/formatters still working on some?

It's a MASSIVE job being done by a small group of volunteers. Reformatting the stories one at a time from probably every word processor used in the past 20 years to a uniform new system. It's not just reading through them and making minor changes. Every CHARACTER needs to be read and substitutions made where necessary. Here are a few examples from the set that is being compiled by the volunteers. The first column is what shows up in the original story. The second column is what needs to be substituted.

There is no simple way to do a search-and-replace. It all has to be done character by character.

That over 1700 stories have been edited so far amazes me.

I just finished proofreading the proofreaders last push of 450 stories. Yes. I did that this morning, reviewing each story for anything that might have slipped by.

Congrats to the proofreaders! Without you none of this would be possible!!!!

Guess I'll post all this here so some of the folks can see more of what is going on.

To the proofreaders:

Sorry I coudn't send any stories out last week. Had a big project for the job and had 52 hours of overtime in last week starting friday, so I just didn't have any time to review things. Got it all done today and sent through and re-indexed! Great job folks!

Opened up some slots for Paolo so he could split some of the dual language stories.

There are 4 that I can't find in the archives properly. Wesley, Kevin, and Lawrence seem to be a permanent issue. Paolo? Can you find your copy of For the Want of? I'll take these offline so we can review them later.

We are having some troubles with blank white space at the bottom of the stories. I wrote a subroutine in that should take care of this.

I think we have some up to date spanish translations from gibberish to spanish? Has anyone put that in the character translation table? If so, send me a copy so I can post it for all. (unless someone has done so and I"m being stupid).

To everyone else:

We is working hard as you see and it's much more than just "Review, Yes, No". There are alot of things still being written but at the end of it all, I'm thinking the archive will be the premier story archive in all the internet.

I have a tough enough time reviewing the stories I edit for errors. You did all 450 in one go. You are a proof reading rock star!

Fortunately of the 200 or so I did, only one didn't pass inspection. I was getting a bit groggy when I was editing that one, but I missed it, and you caught it.

If I don't miss my guess, we are about 20 to 25% through the backlog. It seems to be going much faster than I imagined.

For the record, I still feel guilty when I blow off editing to do my own thing. Sometimes though, my mind just isn't in the right place to do it.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. The shortcuts you've made for us in editing have been awesome. If I push myself, I can get through 50 to 60 stories in a go now. Thanks Talula! You deserve a huge standing ovation for your work.
