Personals Voting!

Post by BossTamsin (imported) »

Ok, folks, since the voting on the main page doesn't seem to work, we'll hold the vote here. Please, only vote if you actually use the personals section.

I've been having problems getting the personals back online, so I'm putting a vote to it's users. Do I keep plugging away trying to get the program to work and keep the old data, or do I wipe everything and start fresh?

I will keep voting open for one week, so vote now.

I'd vote for starting over fresh.

On some other sites they use the main profile for chat room connection, why can't we use same profile for personals as for EA?

Of course restoring the old stuff would be great, but frankly one problem with the old personals is that there were a lot of inactive profiles. I think some of the moderators (Krister?) had started going through to cull out the old stuff. But anyway, my point is that personals are only useful if they are active profiles. So starting fresh isn't really that bad. Thanks for working on this!

Unfortunately, the personals section doesn't offer an easy connection to vbulletin. It would make things so much easier if they did, as I would love to set it up for just one account across the whole site.

Since I never could get into the Personals anyways, do it the way that is easier for you.

I would like to check them out once they are up again.

I would say it depends on what the functionality of the new system will be. If it's not going to be significantly different than what was there before, other than layout and design, I'd find a way to keep the old accounts even if it takes a while to get the system running.

If it's going to blow the old system out of the water and have better functionality and easier searching, etc. Then I'd say throw the old one out and start over.

Looks like 'fresh start' is winning.

I miss the personals section very much and it was so easy to use. I feel if it is easier to get it up and running again to just start over then I am willing to go with it, my only concern is I want to keep my old profile name and would like to continue to use it so my login info is the same all the way through. I know I like the look of the new forums though I do not fully understand all aspects of it, and in this case the old one was easier to use I think. Either way I just want the personals working again.
