Any news about the stories?
Hello!
Do you have any news about when the stories will be up and running again?
Greetings

All the official announcments have said a decision would be made about them at Midwest MoM around August 18th. Join us there and let your voice be heard about thier fate.

Hi!
The only problem is that I live on the east side of the "pond", in Sweden and it´s quite far to go.
Greetings

Re: Any news about the stories?
I think you guys need to have broader participation in deciding the future of the story archive other than those who will be present at the MoM. That is a far too narrow portion of the archive membership. I don't think it's your intent, but doing what you're doing says to the broader membership that only those people who are willing to travel to Minnesota for your meeting will have input. Or put another way, only those you meet in person are worthy of input.
You're excluding the majority of your users from having any input into this because they either do not have the means, the time, or the desire to go to Minnesota.
I think it would be in your interest to have a broader discussion about this instead of what I've been seeing. You're excluding a huge amount of people from input on this decision and contributing to the view (right or wrong) that this is a dictatorship without input from the users.
Now it's your site, you'll do what you want with it, but I don't think you're doing yourself any favors by going about the decision the way you are.
Just my $.02 worth.

No matter what I say or do here on the board it is fucking wrong. Thanks Losethem for letting me know what an asshole I am. Good god! I can't even give some reasons to go to midwest MoM without someone saying something about it.
Fine....
I was trying to be nice and answer the guy's question also. No longer....

As for your .02cents. I have a much better idea, we will send you the parameters of what the programs will need to do and you can write the damn thing, we estimate that it is only about 50 or 60 hours worth and something that I don't look forward to doing, then you will have all the damn input you want. Hell we can even send you the 6,000 or so stories that need to be edited to go into those new programs that have yet to be written, then YOU can get a staff together and get them back out to this board for everybody to see and enjoy, and I want them YESTERDAY DAMMIT, I like it because this is a lot of damn work and I would not want for you to think that we are a bunch of fucken dictators.
This is not the first time you have made such comments, but this is a free country and you can say what ever the hell you want, I say put up or shut it because we work to damn hard to keep this site up to take this kind of crap.
On second thought, we will program it and there will be no input from anybody you will get what you get, if you don't like it go some where else. How is that for being a fucken Dictator.
And we will try like hell to have it out sometime in the next fucken year or so.

Re: Any news about the stories?
This thread not closed yet? Oh dear me.
I am obviously very simple-minded, and so have decided to head for the MoM, to learn whether I can be of any help.
Not that I know or understand much of anything, yet I have the distinct impression that the Administrators have not quite worn themselves out dealing with what happened with the "fraudshutdown" that was not a fraud shutdown because there was no fraud.
I have no sense of entitlement to the lives of the Administrators, and I am grateful for what they have been able to accomplish.
Yeah, I can be put into a state of temper by people who demand of me more than I can do, which has often been profoundly more than those who believe they have the right to pressure me into lowered performance because their acting on their beliefs interferes with my doing the work at hand.
What ever happened to mercy and thankfulness?
Biting the hand that hands out the "food" tends to result in those whose hand(s) is/are being bitten reacting defensively, and for good and proper reason.
I figure everyone gets hurt from time to time. I prefer to stop the hurts that come my way with me, and not forward them to someone else.
I re-arranged my budget for the next few months to be able to get to the MoM, where I will do everything decent that I can do to be of useful help.
Until then, perhaps the words of Dr. Abraham A. Low might be inspiring, Dr. Low, a psychiatrist at the University of Illinois at the Medical Center commented, "If my patients had patience, I would not have patients.
Might mercy be more usefully productive than demanding sacrifice?
I hope I have not found improper words. I have no way to know whether I can be of any use or help at the 2011 MoM. I will have to go there and be there to find out. The future has not happened yet.
