Catherine Kieu Becker Accused Of Cutting Off Her Estranged Husband's Penis

A wife is accused of cutting off the penis of her estranged husband. She was arrested late last night after investigators responded to a 911 call and is now in custody at the Orange County Jail.

Catherine Kieu Becker of Garden Grove reportedly prepared dinner for her husband and put a poisonous substance or drug in his food to make him drowsy, reports KTLA (http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-w ... 8761.story). While the man was sleeping, Becker allegedly tied him to the bed. When he awakened, Becker cut his penis off with a knife and threw it into the garbage disposal, turning it on as she did so.

Lt. Jeff. Nightengale told NBC LA (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local ... 23033.html) that Becker called 911 at around 10 p.m. requesting emergency assistance. Nightengale said that Becker "told responding officers that he 'deserved it.'" Nightengale also revealed that the married couple was going through a divorce.

The victim is in serious condition and is now being treated at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.

Here's a more detailed article including a picture of the hot (and mean looking) Asian woman who did it. Looks like another Vietnamese woman. This seems to be way more pre-meditated than the Bobbitt case, and he was awake and conscious when it was done, so I hope she doesn't get off on some temporary insanity ruling (she was at least too dumb to pretend to have been raped) so at least she faces life in prison for this:

WESTMINSTER, Calif. — A Southern California woman accused of cutting off her estranged husband’s penis briefly appeared in court Wednesday, hiding her face with her long hair, but her arraignment on torture and mayhem charges was postponed.

Catherine Kieu, 48, had an attorney appointed to defend her, but Orange County Superior Court Judge Debra Carrillo continued the arraignment and a bail review hearing to July 22. Kieu will be held without bail until then.

Garden Grove police say Kieu spiked a meal and served it to the victim shortly before the attack Monday night. Police say the 60-year-old man felt sick and went to lie down, then awoke tied to the bed as Kieu attacked him with a kitchen knife.

Police say the woman put the penis down a garbage disposal.

“It’s hard to believe what would motivate a person to do this sort of thing,” the district attorney’s chief of staff, Susan Kang Schroeder, said outside court. “It’s one of the worst things you could do to a person short of killing him.”

Newly appointed defense attorney Lee Gabriel made no public statement after the hearing.

Police Lt. Jeff Nightengale said earlier that the victim was conscious when his penis was cut off with a 10-inch knife.

Police did not release the victim’s name.

The lieutenant said Kieu called police to report a medical emergency and told arriving officers “he deserved it” before pointing to the room where the victim was found bleeding profusely. She was taken into custody without incident and refused to talk to officers further.

Prosecutors said Kieu argued with the victim before the attack about friends staying at their home.

The couple was married in December 2009, and the victim filed for divorce in May citing irreconcilable differences, court records show.

Kieu was charged with one felony count of torture, one felony count of aggravated mayhem and sentencing enhancements for great bodily injury and personal use of a knife. If convicted of all counts, she could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The victim underwent surgery and was listed in good condition at University of California at Irvine Medical Center, hospital spokesman John Murray said.

The victim declined to comment when he was reached by phone Tuesday by The Orange County Register.

“This is a private matter,” he said.

A call by The Associated Press to a phone number listed on court documents for the victim was answered Wednesday by a person who promptly hung up.

Neighbor Lourdes Painter said the couple did not have any children and seemed quiet. Kieu and her husband lived in a second-story condo in the working class complex. Painter lives in the unit below them.

The condo belonged to the victim, but Kieu was living there and slowly moving her things out, Nightengale said.

Detectives were analyzing the food served for dinner.

In 1993, Lorena Bobbitt cut off her husband’s penis in Virginia and threw it out of her car window into a field on the side of the road. She claimed years of sexual abuse drove her to the attack, and she was acquitted by reason of insanity.

This guy may be very fortunate she didn't turn the garbage disposal on. Either that or it's time to get a new garbage disposal. The ones I'm familiar with turn hunks of meat and bone into goo. Some guy's phallus wouldn't even be recognizable as human substance. Not that I've tested this or anything... Just saying you've got to take care of those kitchen appliances, or when you really need them to do the job, you get sub-standard results.

Recent news confirms that the garbage disposal minced the penis into "several pieces" and that it could not be reattached. Also, there was no love triangle or cheating going on. She also waited for him to wake up and did it while he was fully conscious. I really hope that the sentence is appropriate -- this is quite a bit worse than the Bobbitt case in that it was premeditated, not a rash result of abuse, was done while he was awake, she purposefully rendered it impossible to reattach and ended it permanent emasculation.

Maybe we need to be more tolerant of Asian culture. Thailand has the highest incidence of penis crimes. Apparently some Asians have a different take on penis mayhem then most cultures.
