I just learned in Chat that Canadians have no food stamps.
Californian Mexy's go to Washington State for a couple weeks to get "papers" that are viewed as valid in California. So I figured, someone could arrange tours of Canadians to come to Washington State for a two week vacation, obtain documents and food stamps and return to Canada with groceries.
Regular trips might be made to spend monthly food stamps as supports American agriculture.
Any flaws? Feeding poor Canadians is all our concern.

Re: A Scam for Canadians
Americans go to Canada for cheaper medications...although a massive influx of additional Food Stamp people will just bankrupt the state and hurt actual citizens that much faster than is already happening.

Re: A Scam for Canadians
True, no food stamps, per se.
We do have food banks; pretty large, well-stocked mini-grocery stores, families and single folks can go there and get decent, good food for free.
Also, the welfare system here ("Social assistance") does give vouchers for grocery stores to families where it's shown the regular stipend is not enough to feed the kids. I don't think that is available for couples/singles without kids, though.
Moi, sounds like a good idea for anybody in need who lives right close to the border; at least something to keep in mind if one DOES find oneself in WS.

Re: A Scam for Canadians
The Washington food stamp program is actually not strong enough to withstand that. You must now have a legal residence in Washington to get them, FYI, with a lease of course, and citizenship. It is possible to get a once a year emergency ration of them but you still have to be a US citizen. Also, any pending felony will disqualify you, too many criminals selling the stamps for cash and the state government just decided to cut it off at the source since we lack the funds to go after all the buyers now.
Sadly the changes have only helped a little. LOL Too many homeless are flooding in from other states because we have the best shelter and homeless services (thanks to people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobbs donating a lot of money every year to it).

Re: A Scam for Canadians
My information from a real live illegal brought over the border at age three months and graduated California High School, is
Go to Washington State for two weeks and get a drivers license.
Is the Welfare or Federal Food Stamp program tougher or is the drivers license information wrong.
Too bad Gates and Jobs don't build those shelters next to their mansions.
Great example of why I do not like liberals because of their hypocrisy.
Remember bussing but they had their private schools.
Canadians deserve a scam. Any other ideas? Maybe they could sell 100%, Canadian ice.
A foreign ice market like Perrier is to water. Ok if it's Canadian tap water.

Actually, their mansions are too far from resources anyhow, most of the homeless people don't want to work that hard to get to where they need to go.
However, it's not true, you have to be a legal citizen to get a US ID anywhere now, that includes driver's licenses.

Re: A Scam for Canadians
Even in Canada things are pretty good for the homeless compared with countries like Ghana. We have a family in Ghana who will starve if we do not send money for food each month period.I have been in Ghana and know this family and love to be a help to those who have NOTHING.Most people in Africa will die for the lack of simple meds that can save a life for lack of a few dollars.I think if we can help our fellow man we need to do so.I can not afford to do this but I do not because I get something in return but we all need to help what we can afford.

Re: A Scam for Canadians
Are you suggesting that although coming to America for food stamps may not work, a scam for Canadians might be to go to Ghana and be fed through similar charitable efforts.
BTW <oh so cynical> that same family lives in Brazil but without parents.
Don't they also live in Peru and India or am I confusing them with a different family?
