I think that in most cases sex and money are the two elephants in the room before marriage. Most couples do not really talk about it. Are we going to have an open or closed marriage? In either case will we go for vanilla or kink? What career path do you want to follow and will that make enough money to satisfy me? Are you going to throw away that list of sex acts that you and your girlfriends decided you would never do? How much money will satisfy you? Do you REALLY want children?

They don't ask the questions or if they do they give the answers they think the other wants to hear. Since they haven't been honest before the marriage, after the honeymoon they find that he or she "changed". His desires are unreasonable. All she wants is "Bonanza sex". He's lost his ambition. She thinks of me as a remodeling project.

I don't think that most couples seriously discuss anything past the wedding and the honeymoon. Maybe, if they did, there would be fewer marriages, but those that married would be truly aware of the commitment they were making. When I was younger I had that serious discussion with a couple of young women that wanted to marry me, and thankfully, they ran for the hills.

Now, in the case of Arnie and Maria, I'm sure that the discussion took place, along with their lawyers, since they probably had a pre-nup. So, I don't think that there were any real surprises between them. Between a rich couple there is no betrayal, only breach of contract.

Except for a rare occurrence in Nevada, such places are shady and carry the threat of being busted as a customer.
