Elliot Spitzer, who I still think was targeted by those he prosecuted...
John Edwards, (what a pig)
John Ensign who looks to take down John Coburn and his own Parents...
Arnold S. with a love child...
David Vitter with his diapers and prostitutes...
David Patterson of New York State
Larry Craig and his toe-tapping bathroom routines.
Tom Foley and his "luv me some Pages" antics.

Yes, they're a good example.

I agree. But that has nothing to do with what I said. My point is that the women (and general public) should not be suprised when their guy cheats, and furthermore I believe all these women knew it would happen. They may not have wanted it to happen, but they knew it was a likely risk. In some cases, like with sports or rock stars, it was probably a sure thing -- openly discussed.

It does but in the opposite way that you describe. People that are obsessed with being politicians, heads of churches, or even obsessed with being celbrity are likely broken in those regards.
Also, the humanity charge is a bit much -- obviously cheating is a pretty darned fundamental part of being human. I'm not saying that it is universal, but is so common. These guys are as human as it gets. The ideal you're talking about is not human.
And as much as you can say you wouldn't do it, can you really say that if you were a celebrity and married and then some fan or intern sneaks into your office and goes to her knees and starts unzipping your pants that you would actually stop her?

ful...sometimes, other times it IS only the money...A-1 (imported) wrote: Thu May 19, 2011 5:02 am The 'payment' is to be seen with the rich, famous or power
The problem is that you're talking about ideals and I'm talking about pragmatic reality. Of course it would be nice if our leaders, politicians, royalty and favorite celebs were also wise and extremely moral. But there is very little evidence they are and I would say that people who seek those positions are even more likely to be immoral and that good people who happen to get rich and famous will also be tempted beyond their morality.
But no one should think that Maria Shriver didn't know before they were married that he would cheat on her. That is just an act on her part. She's a Kennedy for the first thing, he was a movie star (not politician with any need for overt morality) when they met, he was on massive testosterone, and had a history of molesting women. She got what she wanted -- a nice public life for 20 years, a bunch of great kids, and now lots of money and freedom.

Re: What's an Alpha Male To Do?
Personally I think the women that are with all these adulterous men should stop crying "poor little buttercup" and go find Buff McFuckstud, have a night or two of meaningless sex with him, then come home and get on with their life.
If the husband objects to his wife banging 'ole Buff, then she can ask for a divorce.
In this day and age I'm no longer buying this whole, "I'm just a poor woman victim" crap when a man steps out. We don't hear the guys whining about this stuff when the wives do it, going on TV saying, "Woe is me..." and doing the circuit on TV shows assassinating the character of their spouses when the women do it.

Re: What's an Alpha Male To Do?
There are three known aphrodisiacs, money, power, and fame. Possessing any one is sufficient to have women constantly tempting you, and having more that one makes you almost irresistible. This is why Alpha males throughout history have had no trouble having multiple lovers. Until recently, it was considered one of the perks of being an alpha male. Any woman who marries an alpha male does so because of the advantages it will give her and knows exactly what she is getting into. A wife can keep even a powerful husband faithful to her if she enslaves him to her sexuality. Unfortunately, it's a lot of work and most wives are are either too lazy or simply unwilling to do it. (Once you have that marriage contract, you don't have to.)
Although society did not admit it until recently, women have just as many if not more libidinous desires as men. (Remember porn for women, i,e, "romance novels", has been a big business longer than Internet porn has been around.) Since the advent of reliable birth control they have been free to exercise these desires. Women are much better at it than men are. Society gives them the moral high ground in a marriage and they are much much better liars then men.
Supposedly women are fearful and reluctant to have sex with a stranger, but having had the experience of being a clean. reasonably attractive man in a field service business, I can assure you that they are much more opportunistic and confident in their sexual aggressiveness than men. It can be very hard to resist. Hell, even now, in my 60s, I get hit on about once a month in the produce department of the supermarket (The "I never learned to shuck corn" line is a favorite opening line of the disparate housewife.), and I am not rich, powerful or famous.

Re: What's an Alpha Male To Do?
Today's Los Angeles Times mentions those old gropping female staffer charges "The Arnold" managed like Teflon Ronnie.
I do believe Alpha Male behavior is within the realm of normal. How it is managed is between the consenting adults is their affair, not ours or society's. Society has deemed it virtually pathological as homosexuality was in the before time. No victim beyond a broken heart, no foul. Simple and just for all inclinations. Uninvited gropping is victimization.
Divorce worthy? Since I believe two people should simply be able to "un register" their marriage with the State, again it is up to the persons involved.

Re: What's an Alpha Male To Do?
The French, to the defense of the Alpha Male
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theenvoy/ ... -s-justice
"Meanwhile, French humanitarian activist and philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy, who played a large role in persuading French President Nicolas Sarkozy to intervene in Libya, published a piece in the Daily Beast that sought to heap suspicion on the story of the African immigrant hotel maid. Levy argued that it was unusual for hotel maids to go by themselves into luxury hotel suites such as the room Strauss-Kahn was using at New York's Sofitel hotel. Levy insisted that it's more common for such suites--which in Strauss-Kahn's case, cost $3000 per night--to command a team of maids."
"In France, "a much louder chorus of voices ... [was] rising to declare Strauss-Kahn himself a victim," Judith Warner reports in Time. "The corps of French journalists ... appeared horrified by the fact that, in America, "his accuser's name and face were kept hidden from public view, whereas he himself was humiliatingly photographed in handcuffs and subjected to 'pitiless media pressure,' as Le Nouvel Observateur put it. 'What do we know about the chambermaid?' was a suspicious headline in the respected daily Le Monde."
"According to an opinion poll published Tuesday, 57 percent of French citizens believe that Strauss-Kahn, 62, a former French finance minister who had been presumed frontrunner in France's 2012 presidential elections, was the victim of a setup. Some French media, meanwhile, including Paris Match magazine, have identified the Guinean-born U.S. immigrant maid and widowed mother, 32, who has accused Strauss-Kahn of trying to illegally detain and rape her. French reporters also interviewed sources on the question of the woman's relative attractiveness."

Re: What's an Alpha Male To Do?
This follows the pattern of blaming the victim, I am sure the police would not have arrested this guy if there was not other evidence ie black eye, etc. Also the time it took her to come forward and report what happened was quick enough for a DNA test. We tend to be a bit Victorian in this country and the French are anything but, however when in Rome.
The Court was right in not giving him bail, if they had done so he would be back in France and they would not let us get him, so he will stay safely locked up and if found guilty of rape he will be to old to run for anything except the bathroom when he gets out.
Oh well se la vie.

Re: What's an Alpha Male To Do?
Time magazine's upcoming cover, per NBC News,
"What makes powerful men act like pigs"
The main story is, "The Arnold".
Already, the anti-Alpha Male bigotry comes out. My country has become totally and one hundred percentally, wusified. What next, the requirement that a presidential candidate tear up (become verklempt in public)?
