The only milk chocolate I've had that was good enough to eat plain was See's. I usually choose dark chocolate to eat plain or as almond bark. Dark chocolate cherry cordials from Trader Joe's (only available in early winter, generally) are very good (nearly as good as what you get in the candy store) but are very reasonably priced. Candy store = 1 piece for $2.50. Grocery store = it doesn't matter what the price is because it's disgusting. Trader Joe's = yummy and about $7 for a box of something like 20-24, as I recall. As for specific dark chocolates, I don't know. I suspect much depends on my mood. I like them to be smooth and strong, but not sour, and that's sometimes a hard combo to get.

Lately I have tried some of the spiced chocolate.

Applewood smoked bacon Dark chocolate is not so bacony. A cute idea of combining two of the most perfect foods in the world.

Wasabe/cooked sesame seeds/ginger was good but the best of all seem to be the Chili and chocolate combinations. Lindt recommended as really better then the specialty brands. The later have a higher melt point and stay stiffer in the mouth.

For ice cream it is still cheap Rocky Road.

Does anyone else here to call of Chocolate?

True White or dark only, milk is like why bother and something to drink with chocolate cake.

Dark only for me, in almost any form. Except for mint, I don't really like other flavors combined with chocolate. On the other hand, has anyone here tried peanut butter mixed with crumbled bacon ? I don't think that bacon goes well with chocolate, but the combination of bacon with peanut butter is made in Heaven !

As far as chocolate cake is concerned, the only one I really like is Black Forest cake. But, to me, any kind of cake is just an edible substrate which serves to keep the icing (chocolate icing, of course) up off the plate. For ice cream, I prefer some kind of chocolate ice cream with fudge chunks.

I wouldn't be at all suprised, by the way, if the idea of combining chili with chocolate had occurred to the Aztecs. they had access to both, after all , and their chocolate was used, unsweetened, as a beverage. What would be more natural than to pep it up a bit with chili peppers ?

By the way the "De Gustibus" quote does not appear In Catullus. It is believed to be of medieval origin, rather than classic Latin. My favorite quote of his is, speaking of a rich Roman, (Caesar perhaps, I don't have my Catullus at hand) "Who would kiss such a one, would lick the asshole of a leprous hangman."

I went to the Moscow Deli and asked Elena for the best Milk Chocolate.

The wrapper has a baby faced babushka head in a yellow-gold wrapper.

I cannot tell you the brand because it is void of Latin alphabet.

Unlike Russian dark chocolate that melts at too high a temperature, this milk chocolate has a very nice melt feel. The taste is like a "piece of a cup of cocoa". A tasty threat but, I doubt it would really cover a "chocolate attack".

Now that I have embiggined myself trying quality Russky Milk Chocolate;

I hope someone or more will do the same with Ben & Jerry's "Chocolate Therapy" and report.

Ever try chocolate liquor over vanilla ice cream? It comes in both clear and brown.

I even saw chocolate condoms at the grocery store.

Is that the Milk Chocolate experience the Euro Milk Chocolate fans support?

A good confection. Like a solid piece of hot cocoa. Freezing some was nice too, it does have a low melt.

Shatter the frozen piece in the mouth and it is dispersed and melting.

However, I have my doubts if it would cover a chocolate attack at Ben & Jerry's "Chocolate Therapy" does.

For the best crock pot chicken ever, móle (mix of cocoa, chili, onions, spices) is the best stuff to use. You'll still have to add more onions though. Pheasant and wild turkey also are good with móle too. I suspect that this is the original use of cocoa in Mexico and the southwest. I think the best tasting elk jerky I've ever tasted used cocoa along with powdered red chili and spices. A little cocoa along with chili and spices is always good to hammer into your steak before slow cooking it and then at the last flaming it a little bit.

Lindt has a yummy chocolate bar with a

Red Chile on the wrapping.

That hint of "hot" works well.

I compared Milk Chocolates being familiar with waxy, sweet Hersey's.

Lindt vs Алёнка

Алёнка wins! It was less diluted while still being creamy compared to Lindt.

I copy / paste Алёнка. What would the Latinized spelling be?
