Hi all. Just wondering if any of you have problems with frequent urination.
As others stated, spiro (Spironolactone), as with several diabetic drugs, caffeine and chocolate, causes frequent urination.
Check label warnings on the drugs. If you lost the warnings, Wikipedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) is a good source for most.
Of course, if you are on physician radar, he/she should have discussed these side effects with you. (Some don't bother.)
30 years old is a little early for old-folks-type infections of the prostate, which can cause frequent trots to the loo at night (but you never know . . . Did or do you have unsafe practices? Play with your urethra, sounding, etc?). Keep the toys spotless.
The prostate is a filter, gets impactions from prior infections, and grows around impurities when it isolates one (main reason why older guys have enlarged prostates) . . . but your physician should have checked for that, or at least noticed while he was 'in there'.
Several infections can appear benign, and never show up on standard tests, but leave lasting results even after they are 'dead'; like a weakened gateway valve to the bladder (sphincter muscle).
Only biopsies, Kegle exercises, and/or anti-biotics help.
Also should be noted; pulling the penis as far back under (tucking), can effect the urethral nerves over time. And sometimes, depending upon how you are specifically built, the bladder sphincter too. I did experiment with tucking, when the symptoms started. It can help 'holding it' longer, but gets irritating due to the tight undies. No fun at night when you can't get them off fast enough!
Do you pee often in the daytime? Typically, the body purges (fluids) more at night in the resting state because it doesn't need as much, as compared to daytime when you are active. Keep a record and compare.
One thing that your physician will not check for, unless you ask, is parasites. You live in the northern US, and may not think you can get infected, but there are lots of the little buggers that can't be stopped by water filtration, and chemical inhalation. If you use well water on your property, get it checked by your local county health department.
I got sick years ago, right after I bought my place. My GP at that time could not figure out why, until they checked my blood, stool and urine for parasites (after a boat-load of other tests).
Then I had the well checked. I was used to city water, and just naturally assumed well was better (no chemicals).
My well was infected with Schistosomiasis (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schistosomiasis) (snails).
I live in north GA. Who'd have thought I could get THAT here? It's supposed to be a '3rd-world' ailment.
I had bladder problems, stomach pains and IBS for weeks. Still have a weak bladder, and occassional IBS, but I can sleep through most of the night; and go about an hour 30 minutes after fluids when awake.
You can also get other infections from well water too (like from sewage infarction), but most of that causes intestinal and stomach complaints, with fever, sweating, flu-like symtoms, etc. And, should show up on stool/urine/tests, county water tests. They found staphylococcus(?) something x2 in my well [in addition to the snails]{I can't find the print-out}, but it's from poo drain off a neighbor's property/old farm land.
Hope you feel better.
