Europe has adopted the unisex restroom and seems to have adjusted well to this concept (nothing new). Here in America, we continue to segregate our sexes when it comes to this comfort zone.

So what is the difference in restroom usage in Europe vs. America? I don't know how to respond to that question. People are people... Some keep their presence in the john nice and tidy while others are pigs... That happens world wide. You would not be surprise to hear that most men's rooms in America are marginal... while the ladys tend to keep their privey nice and clean.

So if America adopted the unisex restroom concept, men and boys would certainly have to change their attitude toward cleanliness... would that happen? Possibly, but over many, many years.

We should also include urinals with private stalls. I would hope the urinals, at least, had partial shields to add to the privacy element. Why make people uncomfortable if we could avoid the situation. And please, no troffs... we aren't animals.

I am asking myself very astonished where in Europe these unisex restrooms may be.

I like the restrooms to be seperated and kept that way...period!

I might accept the exception with nullified slaves or in chastety.

Man, I don't know about the unisex idea. One time my boyfriend and I were in the bathroom together, getting ready to take a shower and he had to go and of course he had to stand up and then I had to sit down, and he watched and I felt so uncomfortable. I can't imagine a whole room of dudes watching through the slots in the door..blah!

And now, in some places, women are starting to get as sloppy as some men's rooms. Like for instance at some of the casinos around here? Nah uh man..ewww.

It is becoming more common to see women using men’s public restrooms. As a man, I am neither threatened nor intimidated by a woman in an adjacent stall in the restroom. My concern is the lack of privacy and the limited number of stalls in many men’s public restrooms.

I'm not meaning to offend anyone, but personally, I would rather wait until my bladder burst than to use a men's room if it was as dirty as ya'll claim it is. Men usually aren't intimidated by a woman using the potty, hence a man using it in front of a woman. Men traditionally don't have many stalls because they are in and out before you realize it. Us women take FOREVER in the bathroom..ugh..so we need more stalls for the more traffic that builds up while we clean up our "business".

Man, I don't know about the unisex idea. I can't imagine a whole room of dudes watching through the slots in the door..blah!

On the occasions when I have seen women use the men's room, the men did not watch through the slots. However, a couple men made unkind comments about her being in there. That was not nice. This would not be the case with unisex restrooms.

Men usually aren't intimidated by a woman using the potty, hence a man using it in front of a woman. Men traditionally don't have many stalls because they are in and out before you realize it.

When I first peed in front of a woman (my girl friend - now my wife) I could not go, but she could.

Traditionally men have fewer stalls because we are expexted to use the urinal when we just have to pee, and I always felt that this practice was embarassing and disgusting. Urinals should have privacy partitions or individual stalls whether in a "men's only" or "unisex" restroom.

Girl, I agree with the concept of unisex restrooms for the practical reasons. I also agree that there would have to be adequate stall privacy for all users. I don't have any erotic desires about seeing you pee.

Ms. NoCTuRNaLDrEaMs is correct about sloppy casinos. I actually dread going to the men's room in ANY Las Vegas casino because the floor by each urinal is sticky, sticky, sticky. My shoes actually stick to the floor and make noises as I walk out! I am wondering why they do not hire someone to at least mop the floor once per hour. And this happens everywhere -- not just in the Excalibur or Circus-Circus type environments. It is all a slop-fest, even in the finest casinos.

Many 5-star, 5-diamond or 4-star, 4-diamond hotels/resorts are the same way! I often see guys spray something into the urinal, but never scrub! Filth! Do they expect to freshen the bowl with window cleaner? And the floors are sticky there, too.

But what I can't figure out is why the sports arenas here are so smoothly clean. You could eat off the floor of Bank One Ballpark or America West Arena (restrooms) prior to every event. The urinals and toilets are sparkling clean! And this is after attendance of 47,000 and approx. 20,000 respectively. I guess some facilities take pride in cleanliness and others don't.

Once I had a few beers and walked into the Women's restroom at AWA. I don't think anyone noticed me, but if I had gone farther in... my Mother also likes to avoid public restrooms as she claims they are usually pretty gross.

I agree with Slave Jim. There is one casino however that is remarkably clean in all aspects, and that is the "Texas Hotel & Casino"..of course I have some friends who work in the theatre and have to clean these bathrooms, they get the neat freaks to do the job..yuck.
