Re: Dealing with nocturia (urination at night)
I do not like the idea of wearing diaper, even with this it will disturb my sleep. I heard that this has to do with the prostate shrinkage. Anyway, I have been taking a prescribed medicine from my doc for a month but it did not work at all
I wish there was any other solutions for this problem like OTC meds...

Yes i agree wearig a nappie to bed is no big deal, that is what i wear and i would rather wear that than wak up in a wet bed, better to be safe than sorry.
I did feel a bit strang at first when i had to wear something to bed, but it did not take me that long to get used to it, and now it is just second nature to put one on before i go to bedat night.

Re: Dealing with nocturia (urination at night)
It was determined my main problem is that I have prostatitis. Should have known there was more to it. Since then I was prescribed Cipro and for me that was a disaster. The commercials I always thought where screwed up ie. "may cause bleeding from the ears, nose, and throat" Yes that is a exaggeration but not far from it. I then switched to SMZ/TMP and am getting better. This isn't as strong and is taking longer to get the desired results but is much better for me.
Due to the prostatitis I decreased my caffeine intake and the getting up 3-4 times a night is now down to maybe 1 in the middle of the night every few days. I think for me anyways the caffeine was a big factor in my nocturia not the prostatitis because I have had this problem for quite some time. I may very well have became more of a problem after my castration.

Re: Dealing with nocturia (urination at night)
Hey, tr, good to see you around- hope you're cleared up quickly.
My wife likes to make a pot of coffee in the late afternoon before dinner. It smells good and I enjoy drinking a mug or more. I also refill my mug after dinner and finish most of that as well. And I do get up to pee once or maybe twice. Its easy to drink no coffee and probably sleep through the night but the coffee does taste good and has no calories. It really is a trade-off for me: drink less and pee less or drink the coffee and get up to pee. I don't think it was any different when I was doing chemical castration or after my surgical castration than it was before.

Re: Dealing with nocturia (urination at night)
..
My night-time urination problem is the same as many of you relate: I often fail to wake up soon enough when the urination urge arises, and tend to leak a small to moderate volume. Three times at two-hour intervals is the most frequent in 8 hours. I sleep on a 27" x 36" (70 x 90 cm) fleece-covered waterproof pad as sold for use under babies, while wearing panties into which I place a small folded towel in front as a pad, the towel backed by a thin plastic grocery store bag to keep my panties dry. This diaper substitute is nearly always adequate, though its towel pad may need to be changed each time I get up.
Unlike for the rest of you, I have not taken testosterone-suppressing drugs. My condition started three years ago, four months after completing a regimen of radiation focused on my prostate gland to zap the cancer within it. This radiation is known to wither and shrink the entire prostate into scar tissue of scant functionality, as well as to weaken nearby muscles including the smooth muscles at the bladder outlet sphincter, and to impair nerve function in the targeted zone.
I'm on testerone replacement therapy by rub-on gel for the last year, but it's unlikely my prostate has responded to it in mitigation of the radiation's collateral damage. Perhaps it is the prostate and GU musculature's impaired physical condition that is the nocturia cause, whether by low testo or trauma resulting from prostate cancer treatment.
