I've been prescribed it. Heard varying reports. Everything from no effect, to total loss of erections. I'm already overweight, with weak, infrequent erections. Hoping that with Celexa I might actually see a reduction in the over all size of my genitals

Can anyone tell me what to expect?

Celexa only affects seratonin. It will get rid of compulsions, including sexual urges, in many people. It certainly worked that way for me. I went from doing genital self-harm every day to only getting the urge about every three months.

It won't do anything to your sex hormone levels though. So any musculature, fertility, etc. will be intact.

I don't think it will affect your genital size. In fact your testicles will probably get a bit bigger as they won't be released as often. Your penis might shrink a bit if you truly don't have erections often, but I doubt it would be significant.

However, psychologically you may achieve the desired effect -- you're genitals really won't feel "sexually charged" anymore and will be just a tool for urination. That might be enough of what you're looking for.

It certainly would be! I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but it would be truly wonderful to see that kind of desensitization and eventual lack of interest (outside of utility) with my own genitals

Well, I begin Celexa tomorrow, we'll see how it goes

I have been on 60mg of Celexa for over ten years now. I did not notice any effect on my sex drive at all throughout my treatment. It has not caused genital shrinkage eithier.

Oh my..

I started 20MG of Celexa four days ago. I've not masturbated since. Each day I'd have to say my sexual drive was halved by 50%, until now I feel barely anything at all. I have achieved one erection since I began the medication. I had to work to get myself up, and it lasted for less than a minute. I had no interest in trying to maintain it. The pleasure genital masturbation gives me is negligible. I have virtually no thoughts of sex other than to think about the fact I am lacking such thoughts. Touching myself feels boring, the feelings my penis gives me are almost devoid of sexual sensation. It's like masturbating a finger.

I am so pleased by this it's hard to put into words. I can only hope it deepens and continues. I've heard stories of some 2% of men seeing permanent sexual dysfunction from SSRIs, and I can only hope I am so lucky. If the erections don't return, I can only think that this will definitely result in at least some genital shrinkage for me.

Wow, I was on 20mg Prozac for a long time followed by several years on Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin XR up to 300mg/day and they never had any effect on me like that. Strangely though, even since my orchiectomy I can still achieve erections and climax even though I take 4 - 8mg/day of estradiol. They aren't the same and I've lost a bit of size, but I'm still functional to a point and of course there isn't any noticeable ejaculate, just a small amount of seminal fluid now.
