Re: The Mistress' Boy - inconsistent spelling
Thanks for the comment. I was too brief. I should have noted that the plot, story line, writing was above the usual standard for casual stories and fine reading.
I recommend writers review the book by Lynn Truss, EATS, SHOOTS & LEAVES, an excellent and humorous look at English grammar and punctuation.
The reference to the homophones is good for authors to avoid interrupting a reader's focus, to avoid tripping up a rapid reader with the non-sequitor.

I enjoyed the story.
I don't comment often because I get accused of favoritism, though!
You make a very good point on the book "Eats..."
It's a great one.
Much like the sign for the store "Kids Exchange"
They made it all cap's, and left the space out.
Youch!

Writers rarely catch everything; they are too close to the work to spot trivial errors, which can be distracting for the reader. That is why, when there was a publishing industry, there was an editor, whose job was to catch infelicities of style and to establish an in-house standard for various rules.

Yup. It's not just grammar nazies who get distracted.
Maybe just a second reader would help -- one that isn't so invested, who might spot what otherwise hides from the author. But yes, editing is helpful. Even on the web.
Thanks for the story!

Re: The Mistress' Boy - inconsistent spelling
I normaly notice spelling issues but I was so embroiled in the story I missed them. I have noticed things in other stories but I did not feel this one was any worse, or better than most. I thoroughtly enjoyed the tale anyway thanks

Re: The Mistress' Boy - inconsistent spelling
A fairly typical Roman slave story, it is an amusing read with an interesting twist towards the end. Yep
being cozy with the Foreman is not recommended! Peroxide notwithstanding, still Im curious. Truly yellow pubes are a bit, well unusual
red yes
but blond? But never mind my wanderings, this is still a fun read. Definitely worth a couple of walnuts up on the old anvil for smashing or mashing!

And I do have to side with the author. While spell-check is always a good idea, finding those variant misspellings and/or missed word typos is next to impossible. After proofing and re-proofing my own stuff, those nagging omissions and commissions still manage to escape.
Anyway thanks for the write M.Hammer!
